I'm using a Podx3 Live into a Tech 21 Power Engine.
The Power Engine is designed to work with modeling units like the pod and I have the choice of going out via 1/4 cable or DI.
Any words of wisdom if one is better than the other? |

If its a short distance to the board (e.g. about 20 ft or so) the 1/4" cable will work.
I have a POD XT and that is how I run for recording. |

Every time I may chose between unbalanced 1/4" and balanced XLR I have no doubt...
Having negative pole and shield on two different wires has pros sometimes only, but it never has cons! |

Gianni,
Meaning you always go with the XLR? |

Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm an electronics novice. What are the pros associated with the having the negative pole and shield on two different wires? Reduction of hum? or clearer signal? |
