What a deal! Even if it needs some work, that's an amazing price.

You don't need your Glock. Walnut Crick is a up scale neighborhood and the guy has had a thousand replies to ship it which he won't do. I tried to buy an MSA off of the Austin Craigs list with the same result. Some folks can't be bothered to ship. If you want it call a cab to go pick it up and send the cab company the money to buy it and drop it off at UPS or FedEx.

I bought a used Webb amp for $440 a while back and it was awesome. This isn't the kind of deal you think about, just buy it if you live close enough to pick it up and sell it later if you don't wanna keep it. If it needs work get it fixed! The prices on Craigslist are much mower than on ebay partly due to the lack of ebay, PayPal and shipping fees. Some guy just sold a mint condition Epiphone Dot for $79 on the Erie, PA Craigslist.

Hey Danny...that's part of the ruse. Tell 'em you live in Walnut Crick, but, oh boy, need to meet the dude in Richmond. Now, I'll get back to watching my crime shows...and keep that Glock handy!...Bob

How do you know that? Is there a way to see that in Craigslist or one of the companion apps?

Yeah, I hear you Bob. Meet me behind the Rusty Nail in Richmond. There was a $750 gold top 57 Les Paul here in Sparks last year with a meet me behind some bar deal. One of the guys on another forum I frequent made the call and the arrangements. He took his brother.....a Sparks Police officer. No show on the seller. Craigs list pulled the ad.

And Jim, I appologize. I really don't know that for sure. I've made lots of calls on cross country Craigs list ads and gotten an earful from sellers. Most say, if I wanted to ship the darn thing, I'd sell it on Ebay or whatever. Personally I would like to reply to that add and just talk to the guy. I think it's legit. Just a feeling. But I don't get over to the Bay Area often enough right now due to illness in my family. I'm the caregiver and simply can't take the time. I'd like that amp and I don't even like SS amps! Come to think of it, I got a buddy in Dublin that could make the run for me and hold it till I can get there. Hmmmmmm.

Besides, I just re-read the ad. It's too detailed for your average thief. The OP is probably 35 minutes from WC on the weekend. Can't get there during the week from Oakland though. It the worst commute in the Bay Area.

the want gene gets triggered...

well, dang it if i didn't go over there today and buy that amp.

it was an older one (as evidenced by the 4 screws holding on the faceplate), but surprisingly clean... no tears at all in the tolex.

i would imagine that most people who go to check out a used amp don't bring the guy who owns the amp company with them, but tom bradshaw came with me and is going to go through it for me.

the seller was a 15-yr-old heavy metal guitar player... female... still not sure how they ended up with it.

anyway, good things come to those who shop constantly instead of doing work.

thanks for your comments.

I just saw this thread for the first time. I guess I need to scour Craigslist more often...

Well, good for you Smike, that's cool. 8)

I keep thinking the next garage sale I go to will have a clean '56 Fender Stringmaster D-8 that has been under somebody's bed in the original case for the last 50 years, and it never happens. I think it used to happen, but that was the good old days.
