Does anyone know who plays steel on Gary's LIVE at Billy Bob's CD? There aren't any credits on it.

Sorry to say that no credits were given on the CD but as Mitch said we all beleave it to be Steve.
As it is his style of playing and he worked with Gary a lot.

Steve,

TheSmith Entertainment Group can probably answer your question.

They produced the Live at Billy Bob's CD's by many artists-- Merle Haggard include. I see from the site that Rick Smith Sr. passed away. I'm not certain if he or his son was the producer.

Let us know what you find out.

I recently bought a copy of the 'Live at BillyBobs' CD and played it today for the first time. What an excellent CD, a must have for all steel players.

It says on Wikipedia that Gary Stewart played on the 'Live at Panther Hall' CD by Charley Pride.

Jim,I'm pretty sure that Gary was Charlie Pride's piano player at one time...Not sure if he played on that one? ;-) ;-)

Oops, maybe you're right. I thought the Wikipedia article was saying that he played steel. I hadn't thought about Gary playing piano.

When I moved to Austin in about 1973 the "Out Of Hand" record was a big hit,I always thought that John Hughey was on some of those tracks,I'm probably wrong great record anyway...I still play it every now and then to remind myself of how a steel guitar is supposed to be played.Jim If I remember correctly Randy Reinhardt also played piano with Charley Pride

"Steve" is the great Steve Palousek - artist, producer, guitarist, recording engineer, etc.. he gets around.

he is part of a grade A top shelf backing band on that album, which Gary Stewart was quoted as saying as one of his worst - I love it, the guitar and steel are tight with each other

greatness

that's my .02
