This is us in The Texas Flyer Band in 2000...
From L to R: Bob Marinelli (formerly with Waylon, Silver Bullet Band, etc...), me, Tom Harden (now with Reba), Jimmy Nichols (now the MD for Faith Hill), Steve Smith (still band leader with The Gatlin Brothers as well as tour manager), Carolee Goodgold (a really fine studio and live singer in NYC), the lovely "T" & Larry Gatlin (he'd grown a beard to play a part in The Civil War tour.

Me filling in with the Hoyle Brothers at Opry Plaza in '05. Our dressing room was right next to Emmy Lou Harris'! Got to hear Mike Auldridge from backstage at the Opry. It was a "chicken skin" moment for sure.
Ernest, I remember BLYTHAM. I heard that it stood for Bob loves youth and their money. I arrived in IL in late '73. Paul Wade, was that Radar playing guitar in the first picture?

Band Pic
This was my original band in 1976.I've changed all members since then but we all see each other regularily.I'm the only one still playing on a regular basis though. We never used a drummer when we first started out and neither did many of the other bands as drummers seemed to be associated with rock and roll and not country. My how times have changed.

Here's a shot or two of some band(s) I play with now. The first is "The Long & Short of It" featuring myself on lead/steel, my wife Kay on vocals, Lonnie Godfrey (formerly of Loretta Lynn's band) on drums, and Don Yount on bass/vocals. The next is a shot of a trio which I work with every Saturday at a local restaurant. It's me on lead, Barry Fedesco on rhythm & vocals, Don Yount
on bass/vocals, and a Zoom drum machine named "Little Lonnie". The last is another shot of "The Long & Short of It" at an outside gig last summer.....JH in Va.

Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

Hmmm, so many bands, so little bandwidth....
Foothill Diesel at Duff's Garage just last month
Joni Harms & Harms Way, Alaska State Fairgrounds, Palmer AK 2004
That's me playing bass with my stepson's band The Triad (their regular bass player got grounded right before the big gig!) 2008
Felicidades at the W.O.W. Hall, Eugene, OR 1984 - no steel guitar in this group but oh buddy what a band!
Sky River 1978 - Look at all that hair!
Yes, friends, I could spend all day digging this stuff out of my hard drive but enough is enough....

I'm not currently playing with a group again (yet), but I'll go along, too, and throw in two or three bands that I played for.
The first is WAY back in my earlier days of playing steel ... goes back to 1977 in the most different band I've ever played with called The Barefoot Brothers ...
Left to Right, yours truly on steel, Joey Ryan on drums, Jason Foote on acoustic, Johnny Gibbons on bass, Bucky Woods on fiddle, Billy Masters on guitar and Joey Lunsford on keyboards. We were sort of into the Outlaw thing playing lots of Waylon, Willie Nelson, Marshall Tucker, Poco, Charlie Daniels, etc.
Next is a decade later, 1988, with a band called Whatta Band ...
Next is 1990 ... the first configuration of Ty Herndon's band (we were called Southern Thunder at that time) ...
Left to Right, Mike Basden (keyboards), Bob Williams (drums), Rick Pack (guitars), Ty Herndon (Vocals), Reggie Brown (bass) and yours truly (steel).
Finally, a quick one from 1998 showing the band's final configuration (as Ride The West) ...
Back Row, Left to Right, Wes Hendrix (guitars), Ty Herndon (Vocals), Darin Johnson (guitars), David Pinkston (drums) ... Front Row, Left to Right, Randy Jeter (bass), yours truly (steel), Marty Weir (sound engineer), Drew Keller (keyboards).

Having just looked at all seven pages of these excellent bands I thought I'd add a couple of photo's of the band I was with as there appears
to be only one with a ZB featured ! We were called
Frisco and came from S. Wales, UK.
Sad to say, I'm the only one left of the trio, Clive
on bass passed away in 2001 and John, vocals, guitar
in 2005 R.I.P.
Interesting to note, that telecaster ended up in Atlanta !
All the best
