It was so good to be back at TSGA this year after missing last. Everyone was so kind to Joan and I as always. The show was spectacular as always.
My highlights were many but I'll give a go at a couple. Ronnie Miller's set was so great and touched me deeply, The Raging Cajuns brought something fresh and I had a ball with them. Seeing and hearing Mike Johnson and Paul Franklin playing the music they seldom get to play as the top two recording steel players in the world was too cool. Rusty Rhodes, where have you been hiding. Man that guy can play. And my favorite part was getting to hear my wife Joan play. I go for months at a time without getting to hear her and each time I do I'm more amazed at the heart and soul of her playing. And she still wins the "Tone Award" in my book.
It was a thrill to be asked to set in for Albert on Johnny Bush's set. Johnny has been a hero ever since I started playing. I knew about him long before Ray Price and many others. His record of "Each Time" was the second record I ever had and was a huge inspiration to me. Thanks to Albert, Debbie and the gang for having us back this year.

Johnny, I second that emotion! Like I said onstage, having you and Joe Manuel up there was really like old home week for me. And that's just the friendship part. The musicianship was over the top. You guys really made our night!!! Thanks for playing your tails off, we enjoyed every second of it !!

| Johnny, It is always a pleasure to have you and Joan on the show. You are right . Joan has become a monster player. Your pickin', as always, was as good as they come. The Cajun Connection was truly a breath of fresh air for the show. Paul, Mike, and Rusty were super. I think everyone was at their best on the show. And Johnny Bush, one of the greatest voices ever. Johnny,
It was good to see you again. Saturday night (Sunday morning) was especially great. You, Terry Bethel and Rusty Rhodes did something for two young but very good players that is invaluable. That jam was absolutely wonderful. To see those young folks watch you, terry and Rusty and then jump right in there and play was an inspiration to me. Those young men are fabulous and bear watching in the future. It seemed that some very great players enjoyed it also. Thanks.

Milton, that was one of the most rewarding nights of my life. When I was a kid trying to learn I was fortunate to be around Nashville when those kind of jam sessions were commonplace. The steel players were my heros and they encouraged me to jump in. That's really the best way to learn. It was very special for me that Austin and Tyler could experience a touch of what I had. Terry Bethal has always been one of my heros and it was a thrill to play with he and Rusty. I only wish that musicians would still just get together and play for the love of playing. Those young men are our future.

Johnny, Austin says to tell you that he so much enjoyed getting to sit in with you and the others that night. You blew him away and I heard a lot about it later (took him an hour to shut up after I called him to the room that night).
As a parent, I would like to thank all three of you, Johnny, Rusty and Terry (and many others), for taking the time to let Austin sit in on the jams and talking with him. He learns by watching and listening and sitting in on the jams. He loves all you guys.
