National T-Bird Day

Post by Russ Hicks »

At least here in Nashville it's gonna be..tomorrow, 4-20-05...I'll be joined by Kenny Foy and Johnnie Jones with Bob Knight supervising, and we're going to spend the day on a 1963 T-Bird convertible...with four steelers working on it at the same time that 'Big Bird' doesn't have a chance. Image

Russ This has nothing to due with T-Birds but I could not help but comment on how nice it was meet you and Laney at Benton. In fact I am listening to you and Laney and Buddy right now on Laney's CD Matters of the Heart. Some of the finest pickin and singin that I have ever heard. As Ron Elliot said the other night, "When did you last hear a song with memorable lyrics, melody, and a steel guitar break"? Well I have been listening to eleven of them for days.

Hey Lyle, thanks for the kind words...Benton was sure a lot of fun...and Ed, I still have one Eldorado convertible left, it's my daily driver; an 84 Biarritz...we steelers did well on this 63 T-Bird...I'm fixin' to take it to my brothers shop in W.Va. for paint...but for this weekend I have to settle for driving to Washington, Pa. with Randy Beavers to Jim Thompson's show. Ya'll take care.

My 1979 Baby Blue T-Bird was my favorite car of all. Well, except for my '69 Road Runner. 440, 4 barrel, 4 speed and gas was .17 a gallon (thank goodness). Heck of a car for a 17 year old gearhead girl.
