Those guys were top-line singers. Great steel sound as well. Who is the player?

Those bring back the times.. I wish todays kids could only feel what we experienced back then.

ok...the sho-bud guy is fine...nice country licks...but the great thing there is tompall and jim doing the vocal trade off....just great entertainment you wish you could find now~!!
and then buddy....doing the thing...f*ckin around in the cool groove the way he showed us how ..no one does it like him. it's just the coolest thing he does ...simple as he makes it sound. there's other great stuff out there...maybe more intricate jazzy sophisticated whatever...but buddy...wow. and on t for texas which we've all probably dreaded at one jam or another!! those glaser boys can come to the party ..specially if they bring buddy!
i love that compressed flangy thing he gets tonewise!
side note: thread about sho-bud vs emmons..! what's the common factor here?

What readily available phaser could someone recommend to get a similar tone?
Also, is Buddy using a phase effect on this video?

From what I can see on the "T for Texas" video, it looks like E is using an old MXR phase 90, there is only one knob on it and it's plugged into the steel, first in the chain.
On the "In the Water" video it sound like just delay.
I remember seeing him carry a brief case full of stomp boxes all wired up, an Echoplex, an Eventide Harmonizer and a pair of Session 400's one with a 15 and one built for 2 12" but it only had one installed.

I love Sho~Bud and had few that sounded amazing but this one sounds like crap...Buddy`s Emmons doesn`t sound much better either, I hate those effects...but those are both live recordings so I`m sure that has to do with those guitars not sounding too good...
Db
debate Sho~Bud VS Emmons p/p is pointless, it can not be won IMHO ...

Hey there Zach,
I don't think the big E is using a phaser in this clip, funny to hear him on a Sierra all super direct like that, not the tone we usually associate with him. How'd you like the octave pedal on the fiddler's solo?
Is that a very young Brent Mason sitting next to Buddy? Clip is mega grainy, but looks like him to me.
Thanks for posting these clips, amazing how much of Buddy there is out there.
Gerald
