Steve, That was my first 10 string also. I played it about 5 years. I believe Dr. Yates has it now. I wish I had it back too. I wanna cry every time I see an old clip of Buddy playing it. I've had a Zum for the last 11 years. It would be a real hoot to see you at Sacremento. We'll be the band there with hats on.

I had to wear a hat a few times and only wore it when I was on stage and hated every min of it. but thats what I had to do if I wanted the job. I dont like hats at all being a cap or cowboy. it makes me feel so out of place and most likely make me play worse.

Archie,

I take pride in the way my mom raised me. We knew all about hardship.

Charles Davidson wrote:Mr. Don,Thanks for that. I am southern born and raised, but I have [GREAT] FRIENDS from all over. One of my favorite bands I ever played in was a great drummer from NYC,keyboards from Pa,tenor horn from Detroit, bass from RI,also worked with all races, white, black, brown and asian. We are ALL Americians,North,South,East and West. I cried like a baby when 911 happened because my fellow Americans were suffering. There are ***holes from NYC to Dothan Alabama that will take cheap shots at each only because of where they are FROM. THAT'S not right. The worst insult I ever had since I have been on this forum was a couple of years ago,RAP music came up,I said I did,'t like it. A member said I was a racist, white southern, steel guitar player. And this member does'nt EVEN KNOW me. I just wish this kind of crap did'nt go on. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.
Charles,

Ever hear "get a dose of your own medicine" or "fight fire with fire?" You don't have to don your asbestos suit - the flames weren't for you. Just a little flames back at the OP as a matter of demonstration.

I take every man on his own merit, and I don't worry about the rest. If someone is of good character and has integrity, there is nothing else to be concerned with. Besides, every race, ethnicity, region, background, etc. has trash. Like the dumpster - not all trash is one color. It is many colors. The one common trait it shares is that it stinks, some more than others, but it all needs to go to the dump. If the trash starts piling up, it starts stinking up the neighborhood, and if the trash men (police, for example) don't continue to remove the trash, that mounting trash makes the neighborhood unlivable.

Ok, ok... I'll stop, even though pontification is the trend in this thread. How about we join together in peace and harmony over one of God's finest blessings. I'll buy the first round:

I'm coming up short on personal preferences. I am left holding the bag. Very few if any, have admitted wearing ten gallon hats, and flashy boots like Ty, the ex-champion bull rider. He knows how to live. Somebody.. give me some confirmations of how well you've remained dedicated to western garb. The Texas Band may have set a precedence. It's beginning to appear as such.
Sorry, Bill, but I am not from Tejas. I don't think I have ever seen a ten gallon hat other than on Hoot Gibson's head. But are these boots flashy enough for you?

The initials are for my horse to see in his peripheral vision so he remembers who is in charge.

Nice boots Chris!

Here are a few I have with me right now, in the hotel room.

MR. Bill, Your Crapola about western hats and boots is getting so old it needs to be covered up with some cow patties and put to rest. Now give us your opinion on NUDIE suits, that should be good for another ten or fifteen pages of your posts that does not follow logically anything previously posted. But please spare us and use some NEW material. No more about you pushing rocks off the road,=Enough about peripheral vision,=People strutting around the barnyard to get your goat,=Or you don't tour barnyards for farmers wages,=No one cares if you don't know the difference between a Dogie and a Doggie,=If someone DOES get your goat don't call them absurd or unscrupulous [shows a lot of class there] untill you have earned the right to do so,=Don't care about your posion ivey, big deal,=Don't call a feline lover a stubbon galoot,=No one cares how many Louis L'Amour books you have read,=We don't need to know about 18 wheelers breaking the asphalt,=Or the morons flying over NYC,=And really don't care if you play Mooney,Emmons,Day,and Green setup,But got to admit that must be one hell-of-a-guitar. So just come up with some new and interesting insults. That SHOULD be a breeze for you. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

I'm Finished with this post, and any other Hankey Posts. To easy to nail Bill's @ss, Inspite of of all the flowery Language in his posts (which isn't usually Correct) His knowledge of Music and History thereof is sadly inaccurate and When He Doesn't know the facts he tries to bullsh!t his way thru. Its to easy to catch him in a BS Story. I've had enough.

I'm looking for Mel tillis' practice tapes. One of the most underrated of country singers. I'll be very picky on song titles.

Charles,

Bill will NEVER post anything that shows ANYONE his playing. He says he has no tracks to play to. I have offered to email him backing tracks.

I think he is embarrassed to let us hear his profound 5 finger dropping from 12 inches to hit some out of place chord on his home made steel.

He is a very sad and lonely man trying to attract attention to himself and stay busy. No wonder this thread has been left to continue...it is the best proof positive of the schizo nature of the beast we know as hankey.

But we are all complicit in feeding this beast, me included. Everytime we respond to one of his inane threads is like throwing raw meat into his cage in Pittsfield.

I would like to suggest that we all end this here and now and refuse to be pawned by one mr hankey.

I will no longer post to hankeys threads no matter the temptation. I hardily suggest to all who have posted here and all those that might post in the future to refrain from doing so.

If we refuse to feed him, then perhaps he will wither away and retreat into his own little magical world of make believe, made up facts, hysterical hypothesis, inaccurate references, insults, belittling, and condescension.

Best of luck to you bill....I am calling you out one final time before saying good riddance.

Spring has sprung here in the Berkshires. I saw a woodchuck looking for grass, and the birds are getting excited.

I'll be visiting Jim at Country Tack to look over his spring shipments of newly styled boots and western hats.

This poor quality phone pic was taken a few weeks ago at a local American Legion, this is my 6 yr old grand daughter Kya. She had lived with us and in January moved to Corpus. She was raised going to western dances, she loves it.

She just recently asked for, and received, her first pair of boots and a pearl snap western shirt. She will be here Saturday to spend spring break and can't wait to go dancing. Now might have to see about getting her a hat. :)

You party crashers, bring me some boots, boots, and more boot stories. No swelled heads please, and don't forget the hat tricks.
