Pick Bags??

Anyone know of a good place to shop for pick bags that would hang off the string tree??? leather/suede??

Anybody recognize what my pick pouch started life as? It's gotta bunch of neat zippered, and velcro pockets too.

I got mine at a camera store (in 1981). It is a lens pouch with a draw string.

Eggs Ackley right Paul! And it works great. I got mine at a drugstore when I needed those needly things. Pharmacist just gave me a whole kit because it was beyond it's date of expiration. Freebie!

Hi everyone, i recommend the Tom Thumb Purse Kit 7.99$
item #4109-00. From Tandy Leathercraft Co. It is pre-stamped, pre- punched with zipper, and a loop to hang on your keyhead. All you have to do is lace it up.
I have made 3 of these, and they are nice! Nice to give to your buddies. They are leather,last forever.

Unless you want something to hang on your keyhead, here's something I got at sporting/fishing dept. I cut one of the partitions and added a piece of felt for the bar side.

I have a few different pick bags but I like what Cal & Leann Sharp make.
Cal the last I heard was that Joe Tippie had retired and spends his time playing golf. I think Jimmie Meisenheimer might know more. I left Indy in '81 but Joe was "the man" when it came to pickin' steel.

Thanks, Ben. Joe was the first live steel player I ever saw, when he was working with Norm (can't remember his last name) at Nashville North (I think) around 1971.

Randy Wade - I think you're right; those picks look a lot like mine after I dunked them in tool dip. It makes the picks stay in place better, and they feel more comfortable. If you try it, avoid getting the plastic on the part that contacts your strings. You can use Scotch tape on the un-dipped part to hang them up to dry. Works pretty well.

When I was in the UK Prison Service, we were issued with a resustation kit to wear on our belts, it was
easier to carry the bits in the uniform pocket and I
found that the
picks and bar fitted in it quite well, and, the belt
tabs hitched over the sixth machine head, job done !!

Randy, John,
You are right, I covered the contact area with electrical tape,beadblasted them then cleaned them in lacquer thinner before dipping. You will have to reshape them after blasting, and before cleaning and dipping.

What ever blows your hair back I suppose.
I use a horizontal cell phone case, replaced the belt clip with velcro and stuck it on the end of the guitar.
Local Dollar store......

Wow, I just looked at Sharp's web site at http://www.sharpcoversnashville.com/ and I have to say those are some mighty "sharp" covers.

I'm definitely going to think of investing in a steel cover and two amp covers. I also like the bar/pick pouches that can hang from the guitar.

For the moment, what I've been using is a simple little zipper pouch for my bar & tuning wrench and a small plastic film canister for my picks ...

... these have worked well for me over the years, but I'm looking forward to when I can get fixed up with some Sharp covers and accessories.
