Sho-Bud D-10 Pro II (sound file added)

Post by Henry Matthews »

Selling my Sho-Bud. Just have too many guitars and hate to get of any of them but need more room. It is a Sho-Bud D-10 Pro II, 8 & 6. It is a rare guitar because Pro II's had wood necks and this one has metal necks. This guitar came from the factory as is and hasn't been altered in any way. It is a very beautiful guitar and is a 9 out of 10 with just maybe a couple little bar dings. I played it on our Opry for a year and never moved it and it sounds wonderful. It was very hard to decide which to go but decided to keep my 2 Emmons P/P's. It is Day Setup but can be changed easily. The case is a little worn but very usable. $2300 for this guitar plus shipping. Will be in Dallas next week for show and will deliver it there.

Boy; The D-10 is beautiful !!!

What pickups are in ii?

Do you know the year and/or the S/N? The reason I ask, is because the undercarridge looks a lot like my Super Pro. Can any Sho Bud experts shed any light on the vintage of this fine looking guitar?

Thanks; Reed

Reed, the pickups are the original pickups and they say ShoBud on top of them. It's a triple raise and double lower on the changer. Not sure of the year but somewhere around 77-79. I'll get serial number when I get back to the house.

Somebody should go for the D-10.

I've got one just like Henry's only it doesn't have the the metal necks, in fact none of them do. This is a rare guitar built by a Sho-Bud employee for himself.

Now that James Morehead is selling reasonably priced parts (that arrive on time), reliability is no longer an issue.

They have super tone and action and they're real easy on the eyes. It's a short body made of 1/2" wood so it doesn't weigh that much either.

Can you tell I love mine?

BTW, Henry, the checks in the mail. :)

Thanks for looking and the nice comments everyone. Still for sale. This guitar was built in DeQueen Arkansas when Sho-Bud's factory was there in 1976 or 77 by the previous owner who worked for Sho-Bud at the time. He quit playing about 2 years ago and I bought all his stuff. This is really a great sounding and looking guitar.

Thanks Danny, this guitar would be a nice investment. I remember about 20 years ago. I gave 2400 for an old Sho-Bud super Pro. It was a nice guitar, but not near the guitar this Bud is. The C 6th is standard Emmons setup and the 6th knee lever works on C6th and raise 4 a half tone. The bell cranks are 5 hole bell cranks.

Have had several PM's and email about the guitar and how it sounds. Can't describe how it sounds but it sounds good.I made a short sound clip with several passages so maybe can tell from these. I put an SM58 mike in front of A Nashville 112 with just a touch of reverb. The settings are Lows 3,mid -15, shift 12 o'clock, highs -3, presence -3. Please excuse my playing.

Excuse your playing???? Man, in my book, that was outstanding playing! Beautiful tone too. I think it sounds better than my '73 Pro-II. Somebody will get a killer guitar. Good luck on the sale.
