I just made the best recordings of pedal steel I have ever made. I want them to be available online so that I can tell people about the link and they can listen to/download the MP3 files for free, as a sort of pedal steel demo.

I already have several cds for sale online at cdbaby and i-tunes where you can order the plastic cd or buy a digital download.

(www.cdbaby.com/cd/barryhyman2 is one example)

But I want someplace where I can just upload the files and then these two new instrumentals are available free to anybody.

Is MP3 the best format? They currently exist as .wav files.

What's the best site to upload them to?

What are the particulars of uploading music files? Any special trick to it, or is it self-explanatory?

Thanks...

Barry, I have used http://fastfreefilehosting.com/
It is simple enough to use. It does take a couple of clicks to get to listen to a song.
There was one mentioned here not long ago that is even simpler. I hope the person reads this and lets you know.

Perhaps you're thinking of Picosong

Totally anonymous, you don't have to register
to post, nor to hear/download the song.

Very easy to upload, you get a short url to direct
others to whatever you've uploaded, and another
url in the event that you would want to edit
or delete what you've uploaded.

There are optional fields for each upload that you
can fill out that gives the 'vital info' regarding
your upload, only if you care to fill them out.

Thanks, guys. I have decided to stick with cdbaby. I have been selling my cds there since 1996 and I think they are a great company. They have a website hosting service that will cost me about $18 a month, but I needed my own website anyway. This way I can have band info, pictures, gig schedules, a bio, and links to where my cds are sold, as well as free downloads of certain tunes. So it should be worth the money.

But thanks anyway.
