Hi everyone,
New guy, here. Let me introduce myself.
My name is Stephan Franck, and I must admit that I qualify more as a pedal-steel guitar owner rather than a pedal-steel guitar player… I’m mostly a tele guy, although I’ve been known to trade instruments with the steel-player for a song or two towards the end of the fourth set, when the last six customers at the bar are either, drunk, stone, asleep, passed-out, or all of the above.
At any rate, I’m a huge fan of the PSG, but for the above mentioned reasons, I’ve been hesitant to post on this forum so far.
However, during my lurking period, I have come to follow a lot of your threads, and become quite found of a lot of you guys. Now, with B0b’s approval, I’m coming out and making my forum debut to share with you the following announcement:
I've often seen threads related to "the hippie steelers", country rock in general, how much it is missed and where it all went. I missed it too, and felt compelled to do something about it. I formed Mojave Road, a Los Angeles based band dedicated to genuine country rock. Our first CD titled "Maybe I'm A hound Dog." contains 10 new original songs by singer/songwriter Keith Baxter, and features a cool 7-piece band with a lot of telecaster, and yes PSG.
The album is produced by our drummer, Tony Brock (The Babys, Rod Stewart, Jimmy Barnes, Roy Orbison...) and features my all-time hero Jay Dee on pedal steel.
Saying this, I hope people won't feel that I'm trying to use Jay Dee's name to push a product, because this is not the idea. But it's true that there is *a lot* of Jay Dee on the album. He plays slow ones, fasts ones, has several great solos... it's a lot of fun.
Yes, there is real steel content on this CD, and my only wish, here, is to share this music with like-minded people (unlike-minded people welcome too!!!

At this point, I'm going to resist the temptation to describe the album further, but here's a link that will take you to the sound clip section of our website: http://www.mojaveroad.net/listenbuy.html
Check it out if you feel like it!
Stephan
