NV 1000 crapped out on me tonite at a gig - got no power - wanted to check the fuse, but where the hell is it, and how do I get to it to check and see if that was the problem ????? Also, the ground pin seems to be loose (Not on the power cable, but the insertion point of the plug into the chasis) - could that have caused the crap-out?
Any help is appreciated

Ron, I thought for sure you would have had an answer by now. I was all over the 1000 and the 112s I have, doing the chip mods. I did not see a fuse. Doesn't mean there wasn't one, some of the newer ones are sorta disguise as other components. The 1000 manual I have states that there are no user serviceable components inside. They obviously didn't count on the average steel guitar player, in a bind and needing an amp.

The power connector mounted in the chassis might well be just a little loose. That would normally not be a problem as long as the connections from your cord to that connector are tight. The cord used on these amps are near identical to the ones used on my computer and are interchangeable. To eliminate the cord as a suspect, try your computer cord, just make sure it fits snugly. If that's not it, I'd call Peavey Service.

A loose power cord is a good starting point.

However, there are internal fuses and you will have to remove the chassis to check these. I have a schematic but I can't read what value they are.

If you replaced the blown fuse with the exact same amperage and type it should not have fried the circuit board. The fuse should have blown first. There had to be something else shorted if you put in the correct size/type fuse.

Steel King's have been discountinued, you will have to look for a used one. But, it won't cost $400 for Peavey to repair it, they probably won't have to replace the entire board, just the defective components on the board).

I hope that this doesn't happen to any other steelers. But, a word to the wise is to take your amp to a qualified tech(preferably an authorized Peavey tech or send the chassis to the factory for repair. If the internal fuse blows on the amp, it blew because of another internal problem. Our factory address is;
Peavey Service Center
Attn; Repair Department
412 Hwy. 80 East
Meridian, MS 39301

Be sure to put a note of symptoms in with the chassis as well as your daytime phone number and you will be contacted after the repair is complete.

Hope that this helps.
