Has anyone tried a peavey encore 65? I recently picked up a real clean one, and it seems to be a pretty good quiet and clean sounding tube amp. I've never been a big fan of the scorpion speakers. I bet this thing would sound great through two 12's or a good 15".

I've had one from new in 1987.
I used it on steel in my early steel life, not knowing any better.

Then I got a Vegas, and realised that a clean amp, with a 15 inch speaker, voiced for pedal steel, with plenty of headroom, is the way to go.

The Encore is a great little guitar amp, with a nice valve crunch (if you dial it in), but I don't think it's got the voicing for E9 pedal steel
