Over the weekend I gave my 400 a well needed tune-up. While inside I decided to go ahead and install Ken's "intense mod" from the list he so kindly sent me.

All I can say is WOW! I have owned or played most every popular steel guitar amp made. My 400 now wins hands down in the solid state world. The reverb is outstanding. I can't even think of a word to describe it.

I just wanted to publicly thank Ken for making this great info available to us. If anyone is thinking about doing this mod, I recommend it highly.
It took the better part of a day to do, but it was time well spent. I just ordered the parts to do my other 400 from Mouser today.

Good luck Ken on your new amp venture! I hope you sell a ton of them.

Best,
Justin

Thanks Justin. We have done well over 200 of these amps and I do not know how many people have done their own mods based on the info I have sent out.

Make a great amp ever greater. It is the workhorse of Peavey amps and my favorite for sure for pedal steel (next to my new tube amp, of course!!)(

Justin, I totally agree with you on this. I recently did this to one of my old Nashville 400 amps, and the difference is truly night and day! Although I wouldn't recommend this particular upgrade be taken on by a novice, due to the tedeous PCB soldering that's involved, this Mod indeed does make a major improvement in this amp. In my opinion, it's about as close to a "tube amp" tone you can get with an all solid state amp.
