I'm using Mac 10.4.11 and when loading "LimeWire Pro" it doesn't operate right and shows a firewall is operating. When I go to firewall, I don't find anything with "LimeWire" on it. Any help? Thanks,

If you use a router login to its web configuration pages to see if it has a firewall, and if so, if it blocks incoming TCP ports by default (most do). With online filesharing programs you usually need to poke a hole in your router's firewall, for specific ports (dangerous!), or use port forwarding. All online filesharing programs are extremely risky, but more so when they force you to poke holes in both your hardware and software firewalls. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

Thanks for the come-back Wiz. I'm not using a router or any virus fighter. The crazy thing is, this just started happening. I use satellite and they say they they have nothing to block it. I'm gonna try to trash everything an re-install.

Macs should come with Little Snitch
Lee, when you go to System Preferences > Security > Firewall, what is it set to? Is it on "Allow only essential services"? That list is a whitelist, meaning that if the firewall is on, those are the things being let in. LW not being on the list means it's being blocked, provided that the firewall is on.
If that's the case than what you will need to do is pick a port for LW to use in its preferences screen (I don't use it so unfortunately I don't know the exact process) and then go to the Security > Firewall and create a new service named LimeWire and operating on that port. |

Thanks--I tried that to no avail. I'll keep trying--there must be another blocker somewhere!
