Many, many impressive moments and memories we will all hold from Dallas...as for me, hearing one of my heros just play so "sweetly" was a biggee. I have heard Russ play more than just a few times but to me he was so "in the pocket"...hearing him play "The Unamed Shuffle" WOW..it was so smooth and flawless, and I got to hear some of the kind of licks he played on a Wynn Stewart album, I just smiled-brings back memories and puts goose bumps up my arms! I thought he just played very exceptional. Thanks my friend for the great playing. |

Yes, "The Unnamed Shuffled" was beautifully done, as was "The Chair."

Hey Pat,
I wanted to tell you that you really nailed all the bass parts on D. Jernigans set. You are a fine player..and a nice guy too
(back to topic)Laney and Russ are awsome, Russ has a style all his own, he really makes El Dorado sing, and I could listen to Laney sing 24-7 she is as good as it gets...cya...Ronnie[This message was edited by Ronnie Miller on 09 March 2005 at 05:54 AM.] |

Thanks ya'll....and Pat, you're such a great friend and fine player; I know why Doug has you on his set....It just seems like Dallas gets better every year...I didn't know how they could follow last year with the Big E....I guess that's the only thing that could have made it better this year...but it was truly a wonderful weekend....it just seems like the time passes so quickly; especially when you're on the bandstand. Thanks again for the kind words, mainly because we know they're not just words.
Lots of love,
Russ & Laney |

Pat and Russ, you are both right about each other. Both are great musicians and true gentlemen. I owe my old friend, Pat, a debt of gratitude for re-connecting me with my long-lost buddy from olden times, Hank Garland, so that I could have a couple more years of Hank's friendship again before he passed on. And my new friend, Russ, is due a big "THANKS" from me simply because I admire his great steelsmanship and congenial personality.

And Pat, It was my destinct pleasure to work a set with you, behind Doug. I agree with Russ, Its easy to see why Doug has you cover his back..pickin' wise.. hehe!!
