Hi everyone, I have some sad news for everyone, my friend Chris LeDoux passed away today from Liver Cancer. He was 56 years old.
I was actually on tour with Chris back in 1992 while he played here in Colorado, and I have known Chris since 1986. He was such a great friend, I actually remember him selling his tapes and records out of a booth at Cheyenne Frontier Days before he got his record deal with Capitol.
I am going to miss him alot, my prayers go out to Peggy his wife and all of his kids.

That's very sad news, Red.
I never had the chance to see him live or meet him in person, but always loved his music. He always came across to me as a great guy.

Seen Chris at the County Fair one time.Down at the County Fair was one of his big hits.Another was Copenhagen the Cowboys would take their smokless tobacco cans out and throw them at the stage.
Tough Cowboy and great entertainer.

Very sad news.
I played in the opening act band for a couple of his shows, and I was really impressed at what an genuinely NICE guy he was. He made a point to introduce himself to everyone at soundcheck with a smile and handshake. Not exactly what I'm accustom to in my usual show biz ego trip experiences.

| I played a show in Keystone S.D. for a summer. We had about 4 or 5 national acts come in that we got to open for during that time. Chris LeDoux was one of them. I don't believe that I got to meet him, but we did get to meet his band and they were a great bunch of fellas and had nothing but good to say about they're boss. I also remember a gal who worked in one of the restaurants or bars telling me that she was doing her laundry in the only laundramat in town and Chris LaDoux came in and did his laundry while she was doing hers. She told me that he was one of the most down to earth people she had ever met. Its sad that he passed at such a young age. God rest his soul ! |

He was a good entertainer and will be missed. I worked at a lounge for a while named "The Cadillac Ranch" after one of his hit records. We had to play the song a couple of times a night. My best to his family at this sad time...JH in Va.

The only time I got to see Chris was at "Jamboree In The Hills" last year (Jo Dee was playing the same date), and I was struck by how down to Earth and real he was.
No guitar tech for him... Just another guy, but he did believe in entertaining - with some pyro and fireworks too! Actually, he made it rough on ZZ Top following him to close the night.
I just thought I would share my little story, but I was really shocked and sad to see this.

Speaking of outrageous showmanship...I once saw Chris take a flying 10 foot leap off an 8 foot stage with his chordless headset mic & guitar, landing on his feet without missing a beat.
