Dale;
Try using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to remove it. Be sure to update before scanning. If you have success with it please consider registering it for a lifetime license of under 25 bucks (via my links). This activates automatic updates and scanning and real time malware and hostile IP protection.

Oh, and stay away from P2P file sharing download sites. That is one place where My Freeze lurks, embedded in the files. Also, some shareware authors use it to compensate them for development costs.

Finally, avoid using Internet Exploder to surf the 'net, or if you must use it, run with limited or reduced user privileges.

Computer frozen?

Spyware Doctor is worth a shot, yes.

Here are manual instructions:
http://www.411-spyware.com/my-freeze-com-removal#how-to-remove

The explanations are pretty good so I don't think you'd have a problem going through them. Just be aware that those sort of directions aren't always exact. A file name might differ, or something along those lines.

I had Spyware Doctor a couple of years ago. It was no better than any of the 2 popular scanners SB S&D
and Mbam.

Dale;
Try to uninstall it via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (why not?). If it is a BHO, disable it in Internet Explorer. Open MSCONFIG (Run > Msconfig) and disable it from startup.

Have you updated MBAM before each scan?

Let us know how you are making out with the removal process.

From CNN a few months ago, in an article on Internet security:
Quote:
Categories that had the highest risk of run-ins with malware: screen savers, free games, work from home, Olympics, videos, celebrities, music and news.

Riskiest [search] terms: word unscrambler, lyrics, myspace, free music downloads, phelps, game cheats, printable fill-in puzzles, free ringtones and solitaire.

And from ZDNet:

Quote:
The categories with the worst maximum risk profile were lyrics keywords (26.3%) and phrases that include the word “free” (21.3%). If a consumer landed at the riskiest search page for a typical lyrics search, one of four results would be risky
The categories with the worst average risk profile were also lyrics sites (5.1%) and “free” sites (7.3%)

Apparently "porn storms" are a thing of the past. Laughing

Of course! It is adware, not malware. I forgot all about that company and product. They specialize in detecting and removing mostly adware, such as My Freeze.
