just stumbled onto this additional use for the B-Bb, a cool sounding V-I progression

X lever is B-Bb, and the AX uses the tunable split for the in tune raise of a half step (B-C open)
You could half pedal or substitute fret 8 on 345 with the E-D# lever for the second chord shown also _________________ Scott Swartz

Hey Scott, Yes, that is a good run.
Transposed to the Key of E, I have been using that same run (and inversions of that run) to go from B to E during the intro to "Stella Blue" by the GD (which is basically that run played 4 times in a row).
Cool.

Beautiful song! I once heard Ween play it. Still came out beautiful. |

What are some other uses for the B lever that you guys like? For me it's mainly a way to get a quick minor with A+B down, and a quick diminished with B+C down. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

It can be used with any of the open three string grips such as 3, 4 & 5....4, 5 & 6....5, 6 & 8.....or 6, 8 & 10 to make a nice passing chord... Say you're on the 8th fret for a C chord and you want to go to an F. Slide your bar back two frets while applying the X lever and you'll have a very nice passing chord to go to the F chord. Then you can simply lower your E strings for the F chord at the 6th fret........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Minor 1 fret up from open combined with E-D# lower -- this also gives you a good bunch of minor pentatonic notes. |

Jerry, I've used that move too. It's kind of like a 7th chord of the original I chord. Jim that's a tough move for some of us because the X lever and E lever are on the same knee. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

I learned this one from Maurice Anderson...
A+B+LKV(B>Bb)+E>Eb=Diminished chord.
Yes LKV+E>Eb is easier when E>Eb is on a right knee lever. |

Pete
That's been my 'go to' diminished chord for many years - all on four adjacent strings, too.
(Except mine is: B+C+LKL+RKL (Day set-up). _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Here's a variation on Scott's nice progression using the E-F raise (it only works if you have E-F and B-Bb on different knees or are extremely agile). It occurred to me because of that maj 7 voicing in Scott's A13.
Tab: |

2__D#______________________________________
3__G#________5____7B____9B_____10__________
4__E_________5____7_____9F__9__10__________

Slide your A13 up a tritone to the 15th fret and you have an A aug9 aka Hendrix chord which you can resolve up to D with pedals down at the 17th fret or down to D with A pedal & F lever at the 13th fret. |

Right you are Jim, that maj7 interval is sweet....
I will try your Hendrix chord also, and see I if find more uses for this. Since most of the standard E9 changes are parallel (ie raise both 5 and 10 to C#) there are not a lot of "11 half step" intervals available so its good to find another option. _________________ Scott Swartz
