Pete haywood
Hello everyone
I have just had a lengthy conversation with Pete and he has asked me to thank everyone who has offered their kind words and support.
Just to give a bit more insight to this man, as Ken said he does do his own thing, Pete does not have a TV he gave them up a few years ago, he does have some limited access to a computor and whilst he is aware of the PSG FORUM computors are not his thing, I think we all agree a EMMONS D10 is his thing.
I know from our conversation he was really surprised by the interest in him and his cd and the postings I put on YOU TUBE, Dave said Pete is modest, let me tell you that's with a capital M.
I will be seeing him real soon and if I twist his arm up his back and take him, I may be able to get him to John Davis's function this month, but guys don't hold your breath as you may have gathered Pete is quiet man.
To keep the ball rolling maybe someone would bump my posting with the tracks that are on YOU TUBE
Regards to everyone
Eddie

Hi.
Alan. Hi. I kinda thought the same way but there are many steel guitarists in the UK and many more in the USA and the rest of the world that are good players pro or otherwise that are not forum members. There's also a lot of very good players of all instruments that are outstanding musicians. I can name many myself. We all know someone don't we? Pete is pete. Alan is Alan. Buddy is buddy. Basil is basil. Etc etc etc etc. I personally check into the forum a few times during the day if I have a few mins to spare. I have access to a pc everywhere. And now with iPhones and blackberrys etc emails are instantly with us every second of the day. I reckon he will come to john davis's PSG meeting on the 24th January at Gt. Barford hall as it would be a re-active thing to do with the interest in this thread?
Going for my steak now. 3 rd one in 3 days. Cocacola are paying again. Ha. Got sent back to the hotel at 1pm today as there's a lotta lotta snow already in Milton Keynes and it started up again midday. Bought keiths steel with me. Don't go anywhere steel-less or iPhone-less. Bye. Yum. Fillet steak.

David you lucky "Bar-Steward" (An In Joke) ?
Fillet steak and all I have is fish and chips and faggots and peas...
I've already posted on the British Steelies Society's site and told John Davis that Pat and myself are quite willing (Eager) to give up our spot so he can fit in a set by Pete Hayward.. I'm sure all those attending the Jan 24th meeting will be more than happy to see Pete playing..

Basil,
Not taking anything away from you and Pat, I FULLY agree with what you say about foregoing your spot.
I am of the firm conviction that Pete Haywood owes it to the steel guitar community to get out there and get heard. This is too big a talent to hide.
We all deserve to hear Pete. I hope that you all succeed at this little venture.
Dave, I hope your PC is working so you can read this.
Apply a wee bit of pressure. This needs to be done.
You have done a fine job of promoting his CD.

I have spoken to the man and everyone in the UK knows he is the MAN I dont like to have to be the bearer of bad news but it is not going to happen, he will not play anywhere, he prefers to remain as he's always been reclusive

Eddie,
Thanks for your straight forward explanation. Don't know if I was too harsh in saying that "he owes it to the world", of course he owes us nothing. But when a man is talented as Pete obviously is, and then, after some gentle persuasion allows 50 copies of his CD to be pressed up then he does expect to sell these I hope.
If he chooses to be a recluse instead of going out and promoting the CD, then I am afraid it will have detrimental effect on the sales. But I am sure he knows this and doesn't care one way or another.
When a person makes a CD of such a high quality(both musically and recording)it only follows that he makes it to sell it. Why go to all that trouble just to make one copy for yourself? I mean, what's the sense?
But we all have our own personal reasons and Pete has his.
All I can say is I wish he would change his mind. We all deserve to hear the man. He has so much to give.
In any event, I wish him the best of luck and peace in his endeavours.

I would imagine that Pete made his CD for posterity and not for commercial income. Dave S has made it available to the masses. Pete has nothing to prove and I'm sure that steel shows hold little interest for him these days.

Ken,
I am not here to argue. If a person does something like this for posterity then it would naturally follow that he would put it out to the masses because where then is the value of that posterity?
Thanks to Dave Seddon who had the wherewithal to have a few copies made and to really commit this fine CD to posterity.
I also had your 'nothing to prove' statement indirectly from Pete. That is right, he has nothing to prove and I never did suggest that he did.
It has been a long time since a steel player came along who made this big an impression on me with his fine tone and such a sensitive touch. World class steel guitar playing. Every steel player, pro and amateur has something to learn from Pete.
Is it any wonder that I say we deserve to hear the man?
Dave was kind enough to send me a few copies. I have 3 Cd's left. For those who might want their copy, email me and you can have one for $20 (Can or US)
I wish Pete the best of luck and peace in the future.
Thanks for some wonderful music.

Hi Bent - I wasn't having a pop at you. Far from it - you have recognised and appreciate the talent that is Pete Haywood.
People will just have to accept that Pete is happy doing his own thing. With luck, he might be able to slot some more time together to put out another CD some time in the future.
