What part of your warm-up is dedicated to chord work such as working through all the F chords at the first fret then the Bb chords at the first fret then the C and C7 chords at the first fret then moving up the fretboard to the eighth fret working through all the F chords and C and C7 chords then down to the sixth fret to work through all the Bb chords? How much is dedicated to working all the F chords up and down the neck? How much is dedicated to working all the chord patterns at one fret and then working up and down the fretboard?

Thanks in advance;

Sherman

You'll probably get a different answer from everyone who responds. But for me, I start out with scales. First, I do "horizontal" harmonic scales in different keys, moving up and down the neck. Usually beginning with strings 3 and 5, and then 5 and 8, and so on.
Next, vertical scales with single notes in a 1 to 3 fret area. Then I'll mess around with riffs and runs, and chord phrazing and voicing. I'm going to start working with a teacher soon, and I'm sure I'll probably be doing something different and new too.
