What a great time was had last night at Rod Hamm's Elders Ball. What a treat to see and hear Tommy Williams, Cliff Parker and all the other 'Cats' as well as the other pickers that did the first set 'warming up' for the 'stars of the night', and the scores of players just there to honor Big Jim and the boys. Many thanks to Rod and Big Jim for putting it together and hats off to the pickers who traveled from out of state to make this event what it was; truly an EVENT!!

It sure was a great time last night. Great crowd of musicians. It's amazing how you can go without seeing some friends for ten years or more and in just a matter of minutes you feel you just spoke to them yesterday. It was that kind of night.

I was just listening to the tape I made of Jim's set at the 2002 Steel Guitar convention last nite as I drove too and from work,Jims voice is as good as it gets and he picks with the best there is on both necks, just my humble opinion. He made tears come to my eye when he sang the song "Alone"at the convention. His players that traveled to Scotties to back him up that year were all examples of what we all wish we could play music with. I can't understand for the life of me why he has not become a star singer.
My best to you Jim Vest.

Steve Hinson played his A$$ off on his Emmons P/P. If you haven't heard Steve play, you have missed some fine steel pickin'.
