The steel guitar community is really blessed to have someone like Jim Palenscar to be part of it. Jim has been one of the most continuous advocates of the steel guitar throughout the last 20 years that I have known him and a great friend. Always has something nice to say and is always unbelievabley helpful. Many of you know him as Pali or "killer"..
Well I'm really excited because Southern California has a brand new Steel Guitar Shop. I just visited Jim and WOW...over 15 pedal steels in stock, a dozen or so steel guitar amps, all kinds of accessories, another dozen lap steels..this is great!!
The store isn't offically open yet, but please give him a call and show some support. This shop is a labor of love for Jim, he knows it's not a huge profit center..that doesn't matter to him. I'm just thrilled for him. There is some real exciting events coming up for the grand opening of his shop. I'm sure they will be posted here.
So here's the basics for you
Steel Guitar of North County
3375 Mission Ave, Suite D

Chime in..let him know what you all think.. |

I live up in the North State of California in Tehama County, and there isn't anything for steel around here, I have to order by mail, the last steel shop I was at was in Virginia...good luck with the shop and all your endeavors! If I am down there I will drop in. |

I really don't want to do much online at this point- maybe things will change- I'm glad to sell stuff and will have a basic catalogue of inventory but don't want to do a website or anything- been there- done that~ rather concentrate of repairs, and personal stuff~~ like having fun~ |

I have the honor of being the first person to buy a steel from Jim's new shop. Another MSA maple/lacquer U-12.
This guitar has, over the years, sustained some pretty serious damage. Jim was totally up front with me about this, and pointed out several things that I would not have noticed. I bought the guitar with the full knowledge that it's going to need some major repairs. Jim adjusted the price accordingly.
I commend Jim for his honesty. Notwithstanding that I don't need yet another guitar, if I felt I did, I'd have no hesitation about buying one from him. |

Jim Palenscar is one of the most honest and hard working people I know. He along with Kevin Ryan put in many, many hours producing my two steel guitar instructional videos, forwhitch I am very greatfull. If it weren`t for their persistance, it wouldn`t have ever happened at all. Jim, good luck with "Steel Guitar Of North County" Kevin, thanks again and, I`ll see you at the steel shop. JayDee.
