I don't see any knobs. Is it truly stereo w/ individual output volumes?

Tony,
FWIW, my son is a sound tec, and he said always run the amp full volume and control the volume with the preamp. Maybe it's setup at full volume with no adjustment, that's the way I run my rig,preamp/modeler into ART-2 full on, into 2 PV BWs.

Bill,

I usually run both amp channel volumes pretty hot, but I like the flexibility of adjusting them seperately.....I set-up with either;

[1] a speaker on either side of me, or

[2] with one speaker in front of me (as a monitor), and the other behind.

I can adjust the individual volumes so I'm right in the "sweet spot" between the 2 speakers without having to blast the audience......IMO, It sounds huge and I can hear all the nuances of tone and intonation.

If you leave the power amp controls at max, you have less chance of pushing it to distortion. I for one have always wondered why power amps have volume controls!

Hmm...another feature suggestion...how about a 2nd set of output jacks on the front? Might be useful and easier than wiring these up in the side of a rack case.

Power amp Volume

Doesn't it depend on the preamp and power amp combination on where you set the gain and volume?

At 350 watts per channel (4 ohms x 2), I've never come close to pushing this amp anywhere near distortion.

Jonathan,
Here is the way I have the plugins setup on my rig,If you have one, or two rack spaces open, I use the Dodd leg mount for the Pod. I used a computer power plug so everything is protected when transporting.

I all ready use Telonics Volume Pedal which is GREAT, I'm going to pick up one of Dave's rigs while in Mesa, and have 3 nights of playing to do for Danny Sneed, plus the show, I'm excited to say the least to really put his stuff to the test, I'm gonna play the fire out of it, I'll give you a report whn I get back to Dallas...

Nice looking rig Bill. Curiously looks like a Marlen changer on the red SD10. ?

Dick,
It is a Marlen 10,modified to a 12. A builder friend helped me with the mods/refurbish of an S12 that I put together many years ago. We used leftover parts from where he converted a Marlen D10 to SD10. Plays and sounds really good.

OK Andy,
You'll find a bit more information on some of the new Telonics Power Amplifiers over on this thread:

Glad you liked the performance of that early prototype.

Dave,

to me... your volume pedal have to get the trophy of the most innovative unit for Steelers of 2009! (The Steel Guitar Oscar!)
But the Preamp and your poweramp is topping that! So again 2010.... Telonics is THE WINNER!!!! :D
You're simple the best!

Telonics systems

Post by Dave Beaty »

Andy, thank you for those kind words, our folks put a great deal of personal time and attention into their work and they certainly appreciate feedback - positive or otherwise.
Please let me know if you have any questions or problems with any of our systems. And in particular, please tell me about anything we can do to make our systems better. They are new, having been developed over the last year and they are a work in progress, simply a starting point for developments to be made in partnership with other steel players.
Your input in sincerely appreciated.

Well, I will be pretty scarce on the Forum for a few days, I stated the work on the SWSGA (Arizona) show last night (or maybe this morning, David Wright, Rebecca and I were up until about 2 AM tweaking a system for the show), and now it's time to pick up new equipment at the Telonics lab and head over to the Grace Inn for three days of non-stop fun, and music. As they say, it is tough, but somebody has to do it. Take care,
Dave

Now if I could just get one to fit in my NV 400 cabinet I would be in HOG Heaven. HA!
David
I need to come hear you play with Jerry and Barbara after you get yours.
Let me know when you are playing with them and If I'm not booked I will come hear you and your set up.
I like new toys!
That kinda customer service is well...almost unheard of.
