I'm sending my Sho-Bud LDG out for cleaning, maintenance, and setup soon.

My questions are:

A. While I'm getting this done, should I get the LKV added?

B. Will it hurt the value of the guitar by adding the lever?

C. Could you give me an example of where the LKV may be used?

D. Should I lower B's 1/2 step or something else?

My copedent is the standard Emmons setup. See Bobbe's page on standard tuning E9. Click here: http://www.steelguitar.net/

Your input sure would be appreciated!!!

Thanks, Tommy

A. Definitely!

B. Don't know, but I wouldn't think so if the parts used are appropriate, of the same type as the other levers.

C. I raise my high E to F#, very useful in conjunction with A+B pedals down instead of moving your foot to the C pedal.

D. Many people do and swear by it; a minority prefer the E-F# (which might need a triple raise changer to work).

Beware: the LKV is very addictive. I'd feel disabled without it.

I don't think it would hurt the value of your guitar by adding that kneelever, Tommy. If memory serves me, the LDG came with five levers. Four regular and the LKV. It all comes down to what makes you happy.

I am about to receive a "New" refurbed LDG and I had the vertical or "bump" lever, as we old timers called it, added and I like to lower 6 a half tone.

My vertical lever raises my 6th string G# to B, so many cool things can be done with this

I've had the 6th string being dropped a full tone, the 5th and 10th strings dropped a half tone, and the 6th string raised a full tone and a half (G# to B) on the LKV. They are all useful changes and it depends on what your other 4 knee levers do. Might be best to get the LKV added and get 2 bell cranks and rods with it so you can put what ever change you want with it later.

We but a LKV on our LDG, but we were able to get Sho-Bud parts, We lowered the third a half tone and the six string a full tone. We also had the split tuneable with the B pedal.
I believe they came with only four levers.

Hi Tommy, I put a LKV on the LDG I bought from Gary Preston a few years back. I am very addicted to a LKV, splitting the "Franklin" change between the LKV and the 4th pedal. I used Coop parts, and had it done right by SGNC, down in San Deigo. I wondered if it would hurt the re-sale value as well. Now that I have it up for sale.... I'm not sure. A lot of folks like the LKV and I think it is a plus to have it. So I say go for it !

If the lever added is done by someone who specializes in Sho-Bud, like Coop, or Bobbe Seymore, or a couple other quality guys found here on the forum, it will probably add value to your Bud. The most common use for the LKV is to lower your Bs 1/2 tone, but as we've read here, there are lots of choices.

Hi guys, with all the posts that's been listed, I've decided to add LKV and grow into it. If you ain't got it, you can't use it.

Who knows David Hartley or Bill Stroud may show up and jump start me with new stuff...That would be great.

BTW, ask David about his "Orange Blossom Special". I've seen it live and up close! But don't get too close, it could be deadly!

Any other views are surely welcome!

Thanks, Tommy
