I just complete the rebuild of Kenny Dail's (Bob Hempker's green Emmons that he played behind Loretta Lynn from 72 to 74). Had all the parts replated and/or rebuffed. A J Nelson did the refinish(and a great job) and it looks as good as it did the day it left the Emmons factory in 72. It plays and sound great. Looks like a new guitar.

Billy, I know that guitar well as my old friend Kenny Dail and I have played a few gigs together with him on that fine guitar. Did you replace the pedal rods? Kenny had those short ones on it and I tried to play it once and couldn't even get my legs under it, my knees hit the back apron of the instrument. Kenny used to get a tone to die for out of that steel.......JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Sure did, they were over 2 inches shorter than standard. I put the guitar back to standard length legs and pedal rods.
You are correct, the tone is Emmons great!!!!!!!!!

Tasty looking bullfrog green. Bet it can lay down some pads and jump out with some hoppin' Hal Rugg licks.

I set That Guitar up on almost every Gig Kenny Played for the last year or so before he Moved to Kinston, N.C.
One time Kenny had a failure on his Mullen and I went to his house, got this Guitar and was setting it up on the tailgate of my truck at the Moose Lodge in Portsmouth, Va. A lady was passing by and wanted to know what kind of a sewing machine it was to have so many pedals.
When my new Dekley arrived, I was one step ahead by knowing how to set up a PSG right out of the case. |
