| hello guys i need your help i want to set up my neck closest to me in c-6 tunning e-c-a-g-e-c-a-g tell me how and what pedles to raise and lower what lets keep it simple ok and how hard is it to do better yet walk me through it step by step put rember lets keep it simple i am new to peddle steel any and all help appericated the above tunning is what i am use to playing so lets not stray from that ok thanks |

I think b0b has a great C6 setup on his Fender. The only difference in his open tuning is the "F" on the bottom, but that's a wonderful note to have in C6. Here is his copedent:

| nathan thanks for the info but as stated i dont want to stray from the straight c-6 tunning there must be a way to do it with with out changing everything up in the inital tunning thanks |

Do as you feel, but having the F note on string 8 opens up a world of opportunities, especially with simple pedal changes: major 7th's, dominant 7ths, #11th chords and more. Omitting that note would keep you from a world of discoveries.
There's a reason why Buddy Emmons, Jimmy Day, and others had that note on their 8-string tunings.

| There's only one string different from your preferred open tuning, so it's hardly a drastic change. You could just use your "G" on the bottom instead of the "F", in which case you could use pedal 3 to lower your G to F#. |

on both necks of the 1000 you have to compromise somewhere right? 10 strings to 8. I found even that change was so significant as to render it almost a completely alien tuning to me.
btw, Im looking to trade my 1000 for a 400 or 800 (even better!)if anyone has one. |

Seems to me that raising the G to G#, or lowering it to F# is what's done the most. Keep all of the other pedals pretty much traditional. See the tunings here on the forum. If you've got any knee levers, you can always do something different too. Plus, you've got a Fender here, and that means you can do anything your little heart desires in just seconds.
