I have a friend that has a fender twin reisue about a year old, 2 of the power tubes are glowing blue, we are asuming he needs new tubes, but would like to get some profesional advice first. I don't know that much about tube amps but i've never seen tubes glow blue before. Thanks, Roger

The blue glow that appears on the inner surface of the 6L6, (and other tubes) is due to fluorescence caused by stray electrons from the filament striking the surface of the getter coated glass. This fluorescence is normal and is not any indication of a bad tube. The 6L6s in my twin reverb are RCA tubes that have been in use for 35 years and they work perfectly and they have always exhibited the blue glow.
