You go, Dave. Unfortunately, I'm playing the same night with my blues group downtown at Ludwig's on Sansom. Have a good night. |

Have fun DVA! It's fun doing stuff like that, isn't it, just acoustic and steel? I'm sure you've done it once or twice with someone where you've never heard the songs? I love doing that, a real workout for your ears and brain (and taste). When I played a duo with Eric here he "made" me play mostly guitar, and I played mandolin on a song or two (and me playing mandolin should not be witnessed by anyone who loves music!)
And what the hell is an "obligato" anyw?ay? That's part of the brain isn't it, the "medula obligato" You Yankees and your big words! ;-)

thanks guys I'm lookng forward to it although it'll be over before I get warmed up... probably spend as much time setting up /tuning/tearing down as playing.
I think "obligato" is from the same Latin root as "obliterate", so I read it as "playing so as to obscure the other instruments or vocalists"
Didn't Handel write a famous obliteratorio? or was that P.D.Q. Bach? |
