Years ago when I was young, I always listened to those DJ's such as Don Larkin Lyle Reid Dave Miller over WPAT in New Jersey, who were fine, however they were just that Disc Jockeys..My buddy Mike is not a Disc Jockey, he is a Historian and knowledgeable more than any others I've listened to over the years.
He knows everything about the music he plays and the history of most all the steel players of those recordings of what he plays.Look at the awards he's received for his efforts.
My dad had a show, somewhat similar to Mike's and I know if my dad were here, he would enjoy the expertise that Mike has, I've recorded and worked with Rosalie Allen, she had a show called Prarie Stars and it didn't compare with Mikes. I know of no other than my friend Mike, who has mentioned every steel players birthday and then at his own time and expense has made a tape( back then) and CD for those who have celebrated a birthday and mailed to that steel player.. Mike Gross is the best there is today and it will be many years if..........
that anyone ever be as effective and kind and knowledgable...as my buddy. Mike...I listen every chance I get and I have been on his show many times live, we have been to one anothers homes....and our families were friends.
Mike has done more for Steel Guitar and those who play them than anyone I have ever known..His shoes will be difficult for anyone to fill...Happy Holidays to you and Susan and Jody and Jennifer and the grandkids... We all KNOW you're the BEST!!
edited to add www.swinginwest.com edited to add, and a nicer guy I've ever known, we are friends and will always be that..God be with you and the family Mike, you are truly one in a million!!

Jody,
Thanks so much for the kind words. They are really appreciated. I have to get more of your great material on the show real soon. It has been too long. You are in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame for a reason and that is displayed every time I play some piece of music with your steel playing on it.
