Wow
Bad news for all. After seeing he'd been released for the hospital, I'd hoped he was on the road to recovery.

God bless Jimmie and his family. We will all miss him. He was a truly unique person.

My heart is certainly heavy this morning. I had a conversation with Jimmie a couple of weeks ago about finishing his new project. He has now completed the biggest project of them all. Rest well my dear friend. I'll miss you

Jimmy was one of the true inovators of pedal steel guitar. His devotion to the instrument both as a player and a builder was unmatched. Our industry will suffer his loss but moreover Jimmy will be missed by his family and the scores of friends he made throughout his life. Rest in peace.

I think I am still in a state of shock this morning. Jimmie has been a dear friend and mentor since the early '70s. It is a true loss for all of us, and I hurt deeply for Elsie and all the family.

I have played Jimmie's tuning and setup since '79, and I never sit at my guitar without thinking of him, and will even more so in the future...

God rest you, Jimmie, you were one of a kind Image

My symphathies to the family of this great steeler/husband/father/grandfather. I've loved his playing for years and still play his "Ton of Steel" LP on a regular basis. I'll miss seeing and hearing Jimmy and Russ H. doing "Steelin" at Scotty's it was always a showstopper. This is very sad....JH
