Bernie, it pains me that a steel player can't have his WM player working. I have no idea why it won't work for you.
Let's see..for one thing Windows Media should not come up and try top play the tunes because Baz posted it in mp3 which is the little mp3 player that pops up.

Bernie, I think you have a grandson who sets up your computer stuff for you?...tell him about your problems and have him try fix it.

Maybe it's something as simple as updating your Windows media player?

<File can't be found> isn't what would be displayed if the media player couldn't play an mp3, which after all is the most prevalent audio format in the computer world.

Are you able to play other linked audio files on the Forum ? or the internet in general ?

Basil, Easy does it with our friend Bernie. Computer stuff don't come easy to some as it does to others. Who knows what his computer is clogged up with, or what files and dll's might be screwed up.

We showed him once and that was fine. No sense in hollering it in blue at him. And certainly no reason for you to get your knickers in a knot over it.

This is what I get when I use Basil's link.

The way to play it is to right-click on Basil's link, and then left-click on 'save target as', and save it to somewhere on your computer. Then open with another player, such as Gomplayer

Richard, I don't know how you have set things up, but when I left click ONCE on Basil's link, my computer immediately brings up the mp3 player on his web page, and it plays.

But thanks for telling us. It just goes to show that this is not Bernie's doing or 'failing'. Looks like different PC's react differently to the same thing

OK, so I'm a little impatient, BUT the mp3 format is the standard modus operandi for computer audio, if it can't be played on some systems then the configuration of those systems MUST be incorrect.

The file is a standard Mp3 file, maybe some users have their players configured to download the file FIRST and then give the option to play. This is available in the system preferences of the player concerned (Usually)
I'll upload another file with a simple designator name and standard Mp3 format extension.

The originator of the first file I posted was Quicktime, but the format was mp3, now I've replaced it on the server with an "iTunes" created version. see if that's a runner ?

Hi Everybody

It's great to see there is interest in the UK's # 1 pedal steel guitar player who is most reclusive and yes a lack of hits from the USA, but at times this post has gone off the point, the point being Pete Haywood so for all you players here is a taste of the master at work.

I will give you the history on these 3 tracks,a couple of years ago I was asked to record and produce a contemporary country singer sonwriter named ALBERT LITTLEWOLF new CD, I ended up doing some guitar, bass, keyboards, hammond etc. and I thought it would be a good idea for pedal steel on some tracks.

Pete lives 10 minutes from me, but he asked could I do a rough 2 track for him to play too in his own studio, and then I could remix it later, so what we have here is a version of that rough 2 track but I have boosted the PSG so you can hear him at work.This is not the Albert's cd version.

These 3 tracks Pete had not heard before, I just played them too him and he said "Eddie what do you want me to play, back up or lead" I said "play Pete Haywood" these 3 tracks Pete played took less than an hour to record including him listening to the songs, none of them have any more than 3 passes or takes, just a few bits are overdubs. Pete plugged his guitar straight in to the board/desk recorded flat, so what you have here is the eq version with some reverb from my desk/board, nothing more.

To give further information, yes Buddy did go to Pete's house and Buddy sent Pete his Emmons D10

I know Pete has his new CD out which is great but here him play on the spot, he's just great.

I hope you can all get to hear this, any problems let me know, I'm ok with 24 track analogue but crap with computors, thank god for a switched on son in law guitar player, I've pinched Pete's photo from his new cd but I don't think he'd mind.

Chiming in here from Arlington, Texas ... I just heard the three YouTube tracks with no difficulties and I loved them.

As I said in an earlier post, Pete's definitely got a fan here in Arlington TX

What a great player.

Right now I'm unemployed and on unemployment, so pennies are like dollars and I can't do any sort of extra spending, but as soon as things are better, I definitely plan on getting a copy of Pete's CD.

Thanks for posting the track links ... I thoroughly enjoyed them.

Nice one Eddie.

I understand that Pete is playing with Don Keyworth's band. I cut an album back in the 70's with Don, and I would imagine that Pete enjoys playing Don's material.

He has great tone (what else can you get from a push pull) and his C6 playing is really very good. The first time that I heard Pete play was on a John Aston album in the mid 70's, and he played a fantastic up tempo solo on one of the tracks, that would still stand up today.

Pete doesn't do countless YouTube's, steel shows or put himself out in the commercial domain. He just quietly does his thing, but I can tell everyone this much. Pete Haywood has forgotten more than many of us have learned.

Just logged on, thanks for your support you are giving Pete and everyone else who has offered support and kind words.

When Dave started this thread it was announcing the release of Pete's new CD, this was and still is the opportunity to let our friends over the pond know what a talent Pete has and for them to find out about him and enjoy the playing.

I hope Dave is reading this as I think it should be for him to restart this thread with a new title "UK's #1 PEDAL STEEL GUITAR PLAYER, USA READ THIS" or something along those lines, include the tracks from the new CD and the material I listed, I think then there will be some positive reaction here on the forum and Dave will have sold out all copies and be on a reprint, is there anyone out there that will second that motion, let me know your thoughts

Hi, Eddie ... I know my part is pretty small in making people aware of Pete's excellent playing, but what I'm doing is emailing the link to this topic to everyone I know and asking them to please check it out; they won't be disappointed.

Now that I've discovered his playing, I'm so proud of Pete ... and also proud of all our U.K. steel guitar brethren ... Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Great Britain ... so much talent and so many great steel players over there!

It's absolutely wonderful. I've been watching the videos on YouTube of all the different players I can find and thoroughly enjoying it.

I only wish I could someday come over there and see Pete playing live somewhere. That would be a real treat and something I'd really cherish.

Dave : Congratulations on your presentation to us in promoting this fantastic Steel Guitarist. Amazing talent at its best.. What more can I say. And I must admit his renditions on the C-th Neck are some of the very best I have heard in my life time. And I turn 75 on Jan. 17th; Pete Haywood , in my estimation is one of the smoothest and superbly placed on both necks of that great Push and Pull Emmons.. Got my Album today from Bent ; I highly recommend it to any steeler any where, Contact Bent and he will surely send you a copy for your collection. Amen..Bernie

First off , I want to thank Bent and Basilh for trying to get a link which would bring up " Pete's " clips.. Basilh , your click's in Red do the trick; Clicking on it with a left click did exactly what it is suppose to do. Took me directly to " Windows Media Player " Eddie, I did enjoy your three postings on U-Tube ; doing some other tunes that are not on Pete's CD.. They were all great listening ; And if it means any thing to you all, I'm from upper N.Y. state; way back in the Boon-Docks. And I do know fabulous steel guitar playing when I hear it. If Jim from Arlington Tx. says Pete is good, be assured that he knows great steel when he hears it.
Thank you all for trying to fix things so I could hear this superb steel player on windows Media..
