I have Eventides, 3K and 8K, I have a Lexicon PCM70, I have a TC Electronics M5000 and the best thing for steel, I think, is a Demeter Real Reverb.

I'm very partial to the sound of spring reverb. That said, take a look at this pedal:

If you can get your hands on one, the best reverb unit I've found is the 12 spring unit built by Tube Works. Very Happy

I don't know what the "best" is, but I'm real happy using a Holy Grail Nano on the bandstand.

I guess everyone is pretty satisfied with the reverb they are already using, and I really like my Boss RV-5, it's quiet and versitile, but I'm very curious about this new generation of reverbs.

Mike Neer's suggestion of the new WET reverb really caught my attention. It sounds great on the demos, and is a high end reverb made by the designer of the Belton module. I would love to hear it on a steel.

For gigs,I just rely on the built-in spring reverb,
and my only pedal-reverb is a Little Lanelei which,
of course,IS a spring reverb...having said that,IĀ´ve
been toying w/ the idea of testing some outboard
units in order to detect some missing-out on my
part,and IĀ´m curious as to whether a rev-up-grade
is likely to make a difference in a live situation,
complete w/ drums, bass & the works claiming airwave-
space.McUtsi

I have a few different reverbs , both outboard and rack mount for various applications ....That "WET" reverb unit that Mike talks of is a very nice sounding reverb, but for live applications , I don't know as i would spend $200 on a reverb only pedal .... I would more than likely be happy with a cheaper $100 pedal like the Holy Grail , and put more money towards a studio rack mount piece of gear for recording .... I don't spend a lot of money on effects for live use as it pretty much get's lost in the sauce when performing anyway .... Maybe it's different if you are doing a solo act , but how many pedal steel players do a single act ? ..... Again, just my opinion ....and we all know what they say about opionions ...... Smile ....Jim

James,
Yes, it is on the pedal steel.
I do quite a few programs at nursing homes and etc.
I use backup tracks and am very well received.
I played for an annual get together at a little country church a couple of years ago and played for over 4 hours. Heres a picture:

Erv,
I seem to remember you playing a solo act , but did not think that it was on pedal steel .... I play a solo act and do nursing homes and other gigs , but it's using an acoustic guitar or maybe a Weissenborn ( not a real one, a clone )...I've not heard of anyone doing a solo pedal steel act ....Good for you !!!! .....
