Moderators: Donna Dodd, Lori Lee Smith
So sad to hear this, Bobby and I exchanged a few emails when this problem first started. I didn't know him personally til then but could tell from his writing that he was a special person that appreciated your concern.
My prayers for all his family..Bill

What a thrill it is to remember the guitarist, the man and the friend who is Bobby Caldwell!!! I was so honored, while playing on the talent search one year at Scotty's ISGC, to look over my right shoulder and hand off a ride to the great Bobby Caldwell. I hadn't seen him play that whole night until i turned around while playing and there he was!
We will all miss you, Bobby! But this life is but a vapor and in just a few more breaths, we will join you and our Lord Jesus Christ in the place He has prepared for us! Imagine the guitars that Bobby's playing now!!! Awesome!!!
God Bless your family and all of your wonderful friends!
Thanks Friend!

I have been on the road most of the month,
or dealing with a passing in my own household,
and so never saw this till today...
I am quite saddened to hear of the great Bobby Caldwell's
passing on to a finer place above. I am sure he
is now playing a golden guitar that never goes out of tune,
never needs new strings, and makes the angels smile at his every note.
I had the pleasure of hearing him play several times
and to interact with him personally at ISGC twice.
A class act in all the ways that count,
and a welcoming man to all who wished of his time.
He will be greatly missed in the steel community,
and of course I send condolences to Linda and all the Caldwell Family.

Bobby Caldwell
Bobby's passing was a tremedous loss to me. We had been together for over 45 years. He played at all the local SGI shows we did for many years. At one time we did one a month. He played at the first Steel Show in 1968 that eventually grew into the International Steel Guitar Convention. He played on every one of those Conventions. He also worked here with me at Scotty's Music and with his help our little store became the number one dealer for the Gibson Guitars. I have 6 names of guitar players that have put their name in the hat to replace Bobby at the Convention. They can't replace him. It might take all 6 to substitute for him! I remember all the good times we had together and I miss him so much and will continue to miss him for a long time to come. I know that he is resting in peace and is playing with every steel guitar player that is in Heaven with him. Scotty
