Is there a fuzztone made that you can turn down the attack, to where you can go from just a tad of fuzz, to a lot of fuzz, by just turning a knob? I've tried the three most popular ones, but all three sound like the fuzz is wide open to me, no matter where I have the attack and volume.
I'd like to have a unit that plugs straight into the steel like the three I just mentioned. What about the Steel Driver II or III? More than what I'd like to pay, but if the fuzz can be adjusted, might be worth it. Or is there a rack unit with a good fuzztone, maybe a multi effects unit?

Before I knew about preamp gain and master volume controls on amps, I used an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff fuzzbox. It had volume, tone, and sustain controls on it, and the sustain control regulated the amount of 'fuzz'.
A fuzzbox produces square wave distortion, and while it works for guitar in some situations I don't think I'd want to use it with PSG. Just my opinion.

Oops I should have read your post more closely. Edited to remove a bunch of irrelevant yakking.
I think you would have to get a pedal modded to have it all in one box. Not a major mod I am thinking.
You could try calling Mr. Keely or some of the good people on this forum that do that sort of thing. A Boss DS-1 is solid and cheap and a great platform for modding. Mod and all might still be cheaper than a boutique pedal. |

I use a steel driver III. Level and depth knobs in easy reach. Its a brassy fuzz though, not to everyones liking. I love mine.
I tried a big muff (which I love for guitar) and the results where horrible.
A lot of people swear by the seymoure duncan twin tube.
