"The Wind Beneath My Wings", Bishop R.P. Hall

Post by Bishop Ronnie P Hall »

Greetings, My fellow steelers!
I`m posting a rendition of a song that has always been very moving to me, especially during the time following the accident, that cost me my legs. All because of a drunk driver, but I found the determination to go on with my life, in spite of the terrible set back, and challenges that I faced everyday. So, I hope you will understand, and enjoy my efforts. Be blessed!
Bishop Hall (Ron)

Addendum: 3-31-2010
Forgive me if this is wrong, but by request of my growing constituency, after removing this video off of you tube, I was asked to reload this song again, as it has become an anthem for those of us who are physically challenged. So here it is again.
Be encouraged, and blessed.

Hi Jerry,(Overstreet)
I "Thank You", for your encouragement. I`m just doing the best that I can. I know that there are a lot of very accomplished musicians on this forum, that are of a professional quality, but for me this is just a hobby. A part time one at that! :) So thanks again! Be blessed!

Ron,
Another great job on a beautiful song. I must confess that like someone else on the Forum said, I had seen your posts for a while, but hadn't really checked them out until recently. I was very pleasantly surprised, and now I watch for them. I've often heard that a man is only handicapped as much as he allows himself to be. I feel that you are a shining example of that. Keep on Picking, and let us hear some more.

Bishop Ronnie, your delivery and execution are flawless IMO. As professional as anybody's. I wish I could say the same about my own.

Hi George!, (Brown)
Thanks for taking the time out to check out some of the things I`ve tried do over a period of time. It encourages me to try to do more, and improving the same. As you know being a man of faith that I am, even before my accident, I have, and always will be, determined to try, to make the best of it, such as it is.
After all, music has no bounderies, because it comes from the heart. God Bless, and "Thanks Again!" :)

Hi Jerry (Overstreet)
Your kindness in your note is encouraging. But as one artist has said,"Every artist, sees the flaw in his work first, even if everyone else does not see it!" I always hoped to be better than I am, but we all, can only do the best that we can! From what I hear, you are doing just fine! God Bless you my friend!

Hi Tony! (Davis)
Thanks my friend for your comment! You know, I never thought of the steel as being a "strange" instrument(?) ;-) , but in one sense, I guess it is! Or is it maybe that "we" are a little strange, for trying to play it? Naaaw! I know what you mean! Again, I Thank you! God Bless!

Really enjoyed your video as i have many, many others over the past couple of years. Your playing is one of the one's that inspired me to learn steel in the first place, always wanted to say thank you for that. So there, i did it!

Could you tell me what brand instrument you're playing on, i'm trying to find a good console steel if i could.

All the best and the rest~Phil

Hi Phil! (Dokes)
I am really honored, that you were inspired to learn to play steel, after seeing, and hearing me play. I dont think anyone has said that to me in the 57 years, that I have been stumbling along in playing this instrument. If there are others, I`ve never heard this from them, so I thank you so much for your sincere encouraging comment.
On the question, about what brand of instrument I play, it is just a Carter Starter, that I am in the process of modifying, to suit my physical challenges. I am a double above knee amputee. I am trying to convert, (and already have on some), the instrument, to an "all knee lever" usage, for my needs. I also have a Sho-bud, a Fender 400, and a Fender deluxe eight lap-steel with legs, that I use from time to time. But it is the modified Carter, that I use in most of my videos.
There is one other thing, I would like to share with you, and that is, It is not the instrument that makes you the musician, it is the gift of talent that our God gives to each of us. The more you play, the more that gift, presents itself in your playing. IMHO :) Keep up the good work, I`m sure you are well under way in your gift!
Be Blessed!

Bishop Hall, You had an accident that caused you great loss as far as physical abilities may go, but you have a big heart. My respect for you is unlimited considering your loss. You playing steel is a way of showing your dedication and determination. You be blessed, you are a first class gentleman even though I have never personally met you. You are without a dobut an inspiration to steel players and members of this forum.

Hi Paul!, (King)
Thank you! Yes I do have big heart, and I love people, it`s just a part of my character. Some how, I hope that my efforts will always encourage somebody else, that if I can do this, so can they!
I am also honored, that you have discerned my character, enough to say that, "You are a first class gentleman, although we have never met". I am really moved, and touched by that encouragement, and I have hope that someday, we might be honored by providence, to meet each other to validate that word of fellowship. :D Until then my friend, to you, and your family, "Be Blessed!" :)
Thanks Again!

Hi Jerry!, (Fleming)
I`m sorry, for not being able to get back any sooner. During this time of the year, it is a difficult being a pastor, counselor, all around family man, and host at a large family gathering at Thanksgiving dinner. I`ve slowed down quite a bit. :)
I truly appreciate your kindness, and encouragement for the video work that I try to do. It makes me happy to know that somehow it is appreciated by the community that we are a part of. :)
I do promise to keep trying to do the best I can, because it is good to know that it is appreciated!
Be Blessed during this holiday seasons, and "Thank You!" so much again for your kindness!
