I bought a Sho~Bud VP off the forum recently. Unfortunately, I can't use it, as I'm too tall. My right leg rubs on the undercarriage! So, I went back to the Goodrich L120, but I'm just not happy with the feel. The Sho~Bud's action is SO smooth. But, no matter whether I pull the string tight or loose, the Goodrich is stiff and jerky. With the string off, the pedal action itself is fine.
I've followed the instructions on Greg Cutshaw's site, however, the pot is oriented differently, although I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes...
Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks! |

| It sounds like the pot itself is bad. With the string off, turn the pot by hand using the pulley to turn it. If it's "stiff and jerky" without being hooked up to the string, there's your problem. |

With the string disconnected, does the pedal still feel stiff and jerky? You might check for the need of lubrication at the pedal pivot points. Other than that, with the bottom plate removed, does there appear to be anything binding or rubbing? That pedal is pretty simple design, and there are only a couple of moving parts inside, so if the pot itself is smooth, then it must either be the pedal fulcum itself, or a binding or rubbing string. Make sure the pot bracket is not too close to the string or pedal as it operattes.
