Has anybody voiced a convincing 'Sand' in C6th tuning?

| I've got one on Youtube. I don't know if it's convincing. It's in the key of G which is not as "sandy" as the usual key of D. |

Yes, I have, I play almost everything in C6 tuning, but in any tuning you would do better to listen to one of the greats, such as Basil Henriques...

It's convincing, Billy.
I was impressed with your playing of Sand and how much you got out of the C6th tuning.
You should drop over to the Hawaiian steel guitar conventions at Joliet, Winchester or Hawaii.

A really superb version Billy. I see you play with three fingerpicks like myself.
BTW Andy Iona's version is in Db and the version by Jules Ah See is in C, I think it's only the Jerry Byrd one that's in "D"

| Thanks Basil. There's a version by Gabby Pahinui which is where I originally learned it from that is also in D. If I remember correctly, It's Gabby whose playing the steel on that one. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

That explains the intro section, he was obviously influenced by Jerry Byrd's version.
We all know that's a Rick you're playing so nicely, but what volume pedal and amp are you using ?

That kinda confirms my findings that a 10" speaker is well suited to an 8 string Steel guitar. nearly all of the past masters and our heroes from the late 30's and 40's only used speakers that size..or even smaller..
