I'm retired now, but when I was giggin'? Did three years, 6 nights a week at The Touch Of Gold. That's 312 a year, plus occasional gigs on off days, or weekend afternoons. So,, figure about 330 or more. I am glad I'm not doin' that anymore!

My band is a crew of weekend warriors. Counted the dates on our web site... We were out about 40 times this past year. www.countryexpressmusic.com

Right. I played more than 100 gigs a year for many years. It's all a blur. Now it's more like 10 per year, and I remember and enjoy each and every one of them.

Dang, these numbers are very surprising to me. Many of the people that posted are doing 2-3 gigs a week. I've considered myself lucky to do 2-3 a month!

Back in the Urban Cowboy days of the early 80s I did six nights a week for several years. I can't even remember the last time I had two nights in a row at the same place, and didn't have to set up and tear down every night.

Well, I have two weeklies and usually do at least one or two more each week, so I am going to say in the neighborhood of 150. Wish I could do more, but a day job, family duties, and now working on getting back to writing some music is forcing me to cut back a bit. That and I am tired...

About 100 a year.

I just checked one of my diaries, and one year during my pro period in the late 70's I played 364 gigs. I took Christmas Day off but I was offered that one too! My wife wouldn't have been pleased if I took that one.

I had 3 or 4 residencies a week and the rest were gigs arranged through our exclusive agency. Those were the days.

I do Love to Play

Post by Tim Bohnenkamp »

I'll do almost 400 gigs this year. I play sometimes up to 4 different locations a day. I will do over 400 in 2010. This is me playing a mixture of gigs playing either Guitar,Bass,Steel,Banjo,Mandolin,Drums.

We are playing between three and five a month with more threes than fives. I would guess between 40 and 50. We are booked for 38 for 2010 already.
