1989 Gibson Chet Country Gent

1989 Chet in excellent condition. Plays super and has the sound. All original except the curved trem bar was added. I like them better than the original bigsby. Probably still have the original also. Original Gibson hard case. It has Chet's center block design so it's about 10 pounds. $2000. 334-798-0091

I played one these guitars at Mandolin Brothers on Staten Island back in the mid-90's. It had a sweet sound & I remember the fretboard radius being pretty flat - so it was very easy to play. I think they were asking $2,500 back then! Very cool guitar!!

I also have the same year and model, except the Bigsby handle is not reversed like the picture. Oh, and too, Chet signed mine in '94 at the CAAS. The guitar has hardly been played.

They sell for what your asking on Ebay. If you don't get a buyer here you will probably sell it there.

I have three of these guitars. I like them a lot.

There are two distinct versions of this guitar. The first having a solid maple center with the toggle switch in a different place and red block position markers. Heavy as lead, but a great sustain.

Next version swapped the maple for a balsa center and the toggle on the upper bout with half moon position markers. MUCH lighter and a bit of a different sound.

The first 200 built when the instrument was introduced in I think 1987 were made in the Gibson Custom Shop and have a Custom Shop decal on the back of the neck. I have a couple of those.

I bought them for the 1 3/4" neck width. Not many electric guitars use that width these days.

I have one too it's my favorite finger picking electric guitar out of all my guitars I like the 1 3/4 string nut and Bill's right not too many being made that way.

Excellent price surprise it's still here you don't see alot of the Gibson CG's up for sale.

You have a very rare guitar. First, the fret markers are RED and Square. That was changed on later models. Also, the pickup switch is locate on the bottom instead of the top. That was changed also. IF it has a maple block inside the guitar, that was also changed for the weight. That guitar was among the first made under The Country Gentleman Endorsement by Chet. I am puzzled about the arm rest. Did you add that? It was not on the first models. Does your guitar have a Custom Shop label on the back of the headstock?

You Bigsby bar is inserted upside-down from the way I've seen most of them. I am sure you have a reason for that.

Your price is way low, so It should sell rather quickly.

That is about the going asking price for the early version. If you have a mint condition one with some curly maple you can get maybe $2500 for it.

I have one of mine on Ebay right now for $2K start and have not had a bid on it yet. It is a nice as you would ever see. I don't need three. I am going to keep my two 87 models. They are heavy as lead, but have a good sound.
