I sure wish I could be down for your Jam. Skip just sent me a video from the last time I was there, and it sure brought back alot of great memories.

Clyde: You are such a good friend to Tom! You will have a long day. I do think Tom needs to rest after that surgery and stay out of the "smoke".

I had to retire from being Roy's roadie. I have 4 slightly bulging disks in my back and a LOT of arthritis. The day before Thanksgiving they will inject my back "while I am sleeping" LOL, in hopes that all the pain I have been having is from the arthritis. At any rate, the doctor said never to lift over 15 pounds anymore. I hated loosing the job, the pay was so good!

We miss seeing all of you down there. Maybe we can come down just to see everybody some time.

Love to all of you.

I'd like to get back down but can't during the Winter since I work a weekly Tuesday daytime show at Catfish Johnny's. It will have to wait until after April.

Laurie
No need to explain to me about back pain.
I have several things wrong with mine besides my sciatica.
I'm being treated for a herniated disc at the moment and had two Epidural injections in my lower spine.
My weight limit is 5 pounds, but I do cheat on that some.

I do hope for the best in your proceedure and it relieves your pain.
So far mine hasn't helped that much.

Sorry to use this post to help Laurie out.

I'd like to get to your jams more often also, but I can't drive that far on my own and I need a roadie to do the lifting.

Light crowd tonight but we picked all we wanted to. Thanks to Clyde for setting up the PA and Tom, Phil, and Blake for coming and playing steel. Also, thanks to our Canadian singers (didn't catch their names - help me out here Clyde). No meeting in December, so see you all in January - I will have my new (used) steel (Fesseneden)by then. Tom should be over his cataract surgery and all the rest of you get over your bad backs. Don - if you'll get somebody on your end to load it, I'll be glad to unload it for you. Everybody have a great holiday season and see you in 2010!!!

Laurie Ihave been thru that a half dozen times, and it really helps, they do not do it any more and the pain is acceptable I can livee with it.
They always did mine while I was awake and it was not to bad.
MMine helped a whole Lot, My baackbone is growing against my spinal chord.
You will be glad you did this.
We Love you both and pray for your, and Roy's health.

I wish you the best with your injections.
Like Ernie said they did both of mine while awake.
I sure hope they help you. I got some temporary relief but not what I expected. Keep plenty of Tylenol around.

Skip
I may take you up on that offer next year.
I'd like to show off my New Weeenick steel and play it with you folks at the Club Jam.
It should be done in January some time.

Don, Earnie, & Blake:

Thank you so much for your thoughts and uplifting words.

I had bursitis in both hips and pain in my lower back about 3 years ago. They put me asleep then and injected it all and I had no pain until the last couple of months.

The MRI showed the bulging disks and the severe arthritis. The pain goes down the sciatic nerve, down to my knee & then on down to my ankle. When I do a lot of lifting or laundry I can barely walk even with pain pills. Once the pain gets going it is VERY HARD to stop.

My lower back aches all the time now. If I stand to long it flares up, if I sit to long it hurts even with a pillow. I will just be glad to get this all done.

Hugs to all of you for caring about me. It's wonderful to have good friends.

Tom, I pray you are doing better today.

Love to you all,
Laurie

Laurie
I wish you well.
I have exactly the same pain as you describe and my MRI showed a herniated disc which I read is what the sciatic is related to.
I spent 2 months with a chiropractor (24 treatments) and she made it worse.
My best to you and Roy.

Laurie-Sorry to hear of your back problems. I hope the injection gets the pain under control. Tom is doing just fine.

Jack-We'll look for you after next April and, oh yeah, don't forget to bring Don with you.

Nick-I gave Phil's phone number to Skip. He says you call him semi-regularly. We would love to have you come play again. (Don't forget to bring your two brothers).

Skip-Thanks for supplying info on the meeting. The Canadians were (and are) Norm and Mary Ashley. They come down several times a year and we are glad to see them when they are here.

In case anyone wonders about Tom not being at the meeting but listed as playing, we are blessed (or cursed) with two Toms--Tom Chaffin (dobro) and Tom Murphy (guitar-steel-banjo [DID HE SAY BANJO?].

Our drummer, Gordon Perry, is still under the weather. We Hope to have him back in January.

THANKS to all who attended, players and spectators!

Clyde and Tom M
