Having been an archtop player, my teeny-brute has worked out well for me (100-ish watts RMS/ 8" speaker).

It does have a speaker-out jack and I was wondering if adding some kind of 15" cabinet would be a viable route for psg.

Thanx for anything folks!

I used a mini-brute with a 15" for a while. 60 watts I think. I put a 4ohm BW instead of the 8Ohm that was in there and it was a huge upgrade. The stock polytone speaker was really crappy. I'd find out what the ohm rating for the amp is, then try to match it with one 15" and the 8". Put a little delay/reverb and maybe something to boost the sustain (EQ w/ gain, or match-bro), I bet it'll be good and loud. If that doesn't work you can get a session 400 for about 350 bucks. That's what Buddy Emmons always used and I'd say that he sounds pretty good.

Brent,
Thanks so much. That's exactly the kind of direction I was looking for.
Much appreciated.

The Teeny would indeed sound better with a big speaker. But if you want really good sound for a pedal steel, I feel you'll have to use another amp, or at the very least, a stomp-box EQ. The Teeny has no mid or mid shift control, and I consider that a serious drawback for use with a pedal steel.

Donny, like Brett thanks, too for telling me what I kinda knew.

I'll just "cool my heels" a bit and wait for a session 400 to show up.

Craigs list in Lansing even had one for $200, so thanks
for the advice.

Music shops should have a Cool-down law for people like me!

Brett and Donny,
Just an update and more thanks for the free consulting.
A day later, here in town, I found a Nashville 400 for $200! (craigslist)
Thanks again.
