Dickie Harris - E. Tubbs steeler ???

Post by Eddie Cunningham »

Anybody from Nashville or Texas know what ever happened to Dickie Harris who played steel for Ernest Tubb from 1950 thru 1956 ??? He played a 3 or 4 neck Fender non-pedal steel and was replaced by Buddy Emmons . Dickie disappeared from sight and I always wondered what became of him ??? Eddie "C"

Hi Eddie:

I saw Dickie at the Stl Convention about 8 to 10 years ago. He was not on the program.

Hi Eddy. As far as I know, he is living, I believe in Watertown TN, close to Lebanon. I have picked with him a few times over the last 2 or 3 years. He was playing a snare drum, and has real bad knee problems, That's all I know, except he is one fine gentleman.

Thanks for the info !! I saw Dickie after the G.O.O. at the E.T. record shop show back in 1951 and always enjoyed his playing . Glad to hear he is still around but evidently not playing any steel !!!??? Eddie "C"

I saw him and talked to him at the Lexington Ky. steel show a week ago, Nov. 6th. He was one of the finest steelers.
