Thinking Maine Steel Guitar Jam
I'm thinking about having a Maine Steel Guitar Jam.It will be at the Oxford American Legion Post 112. I just came from the Legion meeting and talked about a Steel Jam and They liked the Idear very much. If I have it it will be the Mid to last of April. Let me hear from you guys about who would be interested in comming . I need to know so I can get things going.I'm sure it will go over great here as they love that kind of Music.

Well it looks like the Steel Guitar in Maine is dead. No one seems to care about a Steel show up here.So it looks like I won't waste my time and effort to put on a great time.I guess country music is not that strong in Maine. I'll stick with helping all I can with the one I formed in Rhode Island. They are all interested in the Steel Guitar there.

Hi Samuel,
Sorry you couldn't get something going
in Maine. I guess you just need to return
to North Carolina where country music and
the steel guitar is very much appreiciated.
I have loved country music in general
and the steel guitar in particuler since I was old enough to know what music was.
I would love to learn how to play, but
hearing is my problem. I have had a Marlen S-10 and a session 500 amp since the early 1980s Len Statler built it for me while I waited at his shop but unfortunately
my hearing started to deminish shortly after
I got it. I can't play myself but I will continue to go places like Kannapolis, N.C. and Saluda S.C. and Sanford N.C. as long as
the Lord will allow me to.
I hope you can get something going soon
and may God bless you and yours in every
indever you may ubdertake........

OK Ijust heard from Dana Flood and the problem is that all the steel players up here in maine do not have computers so that is small problem. Dana knows about 50 to 60 that will come to a Jam. Wow we will need a week to have all these guys play.We will try and get one going . With a little work and Effort we will succed.

Hi Sam- Id be happy to attend! Might even attempt to play if you can't find enough steelers who actually can play this infernal contraption! But, give it a little time- you can't assume all is lost after just a few days. You live in "Vacationland" now, the pace is slower. Slower than Massachusetts, anyway- I can't vouch for elsewhere. I'm looking forward to getting together.
New up Date on Maine Steel Show.Ok I feel we can get around 15 to 20 Steel players to attend. If we get lucky we might even get a few from Rhode Island and Mass. area. I think I might be able to get Jerry Fessenden and Larry Bevins from Montpilier Vermont and Frank Caruso and Chris Caruso to come from Mass. Also Herbie Wallace wants to come so I guess this will turn out to be a good Steel Show.Herbie is a great Steel player and we will have to talk things over. Now I will need a good Lead player hopefully Mike Idhe, and maybe Sandy Martin or Chris Caruso on Bass.I might even be able to get Elaine Ellis on bass and if so Manny Escobar will come up to play Steel.Lets see what works out now that I have the basics to work with.
