Someone at work asked me if I had any idea what it's worth. They think it's from '55. I have a picture but didn't upload it. I can email it if anyone has some knowledge of them.
thanks, Ron

One of my guitar customers used to have an agreement
w/ his landlord, along the lines of..."tidy up the
basement every once in a while for reduced rent"...
just before this arrangement was coming to an end,he
found a -40´s Harmony Monterey acoustic in the garbage room...I had it in for a refurb, great guitar
; this is not an answer to your Q,but it´s a great
story,and it´s true...McUtsi |

The Harmony Monterey is not a lap steel. Moved to Music from Steel WIthout Pedals. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

You need to post a pic or model number (usually starts with an H and three or four numbers, like H950).
Harmony's "Monterey" line had all kinds of guitars, mandolins, and even a few resonator acoustic instruments. Monterey was a brand name of their mid-low priced acoustic instruments.
They were all in the economy line so even today they don't bring much. Most Harmony Archtops bring about $150-$200, mandolins about $50-$125, and flat tops $75 - $125. Now it all depends on condition of the guitar and MODEL, not just brand name. _________________ http://www.oldbluesound.com/about.htm

Were't Harmony and Kay about the same. Seems like I saw in Guitar Player where they are reissuing a bunch of the old hollow body electrics. _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

Both Kay and Harmony have new Vintage lines of "reissue" guitars out right now. They are really made by a Korean Company not the actual Chicago based company from the past century. Both companies went out of business in the '70s, due to the flood of cheep import guitars.

Ron said in his post that he had a picture, so hopefully he can match it up. |
