I liked that a lot Manfred, very enjoyable and entertaining by both yourself and the girls.

Thanks for your kind replies!
We now have a second darabuka/frame drum player and sometimes use two steel guitars (weissenborn & lap steel). There are now five girls dancing.
When everything has settled I will try to post another video with some balkan tune.

Super playing by the Slide Guitarist, (Wearing the hat) I think..almost like a lap steel..
Close Manfred...very close..
OR... is it actually a lap steel played on the vertical plane ? with a slide ?

You must have better eyesight than mine, Basil. The band was so far in the distance I couldn't make out who was playing what. Embarassed

Hi Basil,

you have very sharp eyes - and very good ears too. Indeed it is a lap steel played "bottleneck" style. I often switch between bottleneck and lap steel position, sometimes I play a tune one way, sometimes the other. Some things are playable only in lap steel style. Small slants (one fret difference)are managable in bottleneck style, but this is very limited.
I use a Magnatone from the 40s for that. I also switch between fingepicking and using a pick.
Other people play that way too:
