I am very happy to report that the Kannapolis Jam was a very, very huge success this past weekend. This Jam and Show was the biggest and best yet. We keep saying that but its true. Just ask anyone that was in attendence. We had 23 guitars set up at one time and I know of a few that did not bring them in to the facility. At this rate we will need to find a bigger facility. ER Chandler,Carl Epling and their wives worked their fannies off to put on a great show for all that show up. The audience in attendance was overwhelming as the room was packed out all the time.
Mr. Don Helms (a living legend) stole the show with all the Hank Williams songs. Don played with the same guitar he played with Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and other Greats. Much to everybodys surprize and to Don, we had a young 19 year old man by the Name of Chris Malpass that was just elited to see Mr. Helms and he also sang Hank Williams Songs. This young man blew everybody out of the water including Don. Everybody had a great time this weekend and if you missed it you sure missed a good-un.
We want to thank everyone that came out and supported the MASGA Event in Kannapolis NC and want to say a special thank you to ER,Carl and their wives for all their hard work in their promotion of another MASGA Event. We don't want to forget a big thank you to The McCoy Bros Band. A Great Back up band from Columbia SC that also stole the show. They just did it all from backing up all the steel players, performing themselves, playing gospel music on Sunday and being a super bunch of guys who made it happen for two days.

Regards and thanks to All

I'm really disappointed that I could not attend this jam. Chris Malpass is a good friend and I've been blessed to play along with his group on acouple of occasions.
He played at the NC State Fair for 3 days this year and certainly has a big future in the music business. MASGA has been very fortunate to bring big name folks to our jams, such as Don Helms and Bobbe Seymour just to name acouple. If we as members will participate, I'm sure our elected officials will bring us more.

ER and Carl put together another fantastic show. All the players in the jam really performed (I think) better than I have heard any of them before. Everyone just seemed be on a high all weekend.
My highlight was to spend much time with Don Helms and Miss Hazel. A nicer couple can not be found. When I asked Don if Chris could sing a few songs with him, he did not hesitate. "Sure, let me do my set and he can the sing a couple!" I have had the privelege of playing behind Chris, and when he and Don did their songs, the audience was so quit you could tell it was a special moment. Chris is such a big Hank Williams fan - Country Music is in good hands!!
A VERY GOOD WEEKEND! Thanks to ER, Carl and their wives!
