Last weekend my band was getting paid great money to wear tuxedos and play "Fly Me to The Moon" and "New York New York" for happy rich country club folks in Palm Desert (yes, money DOE'S buy happiness...)

This weekend we're making $62.50 at the infamously smokey and sleazy Lorretta's lounge in Fontana CA playing "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Tush" etc. for drunk truckers, hookers, and tweekers....but between those tunes, we get to play some great country jazz, swing & R&B. There's no business like...yada yada! C'mon down to the last real honky tonk in Southern CA.

Good ol' southern California; years ago I was doing a little picking in a place in Riverside and some of the guys on my aircrew had come to listen to the band. When I looked up after one number, they had left and the place was crowded with a biker group and some of the Calif Highway Patrol; what a night. Ah, the good ol' days......

Lots of great places to play in the 60’s. Played Grans, in Redlands, Arthur’s in Riverside, Ollie’s or was it Oakieville in Fontana. Loved the all night jam sessions on weekends. I remember a steel player Dick Stubbs. He played a triple neck and used no picks. Great player. Remember the Never Again Club in Lapuente and Vern Stovall and Phil Bahl. I’m doing the best I can spelling with my West Virginia education.
