Fender 400/1000 Pickups?

Can anyone tell me if the larger pickup in the 400 and 1000 models is the same as the Fender Jazzmaster pickup, or are there differences? I'm working on plans for a 6-string lap steel, and if they are the same, I wouldn't mind having that sound at all - I had a 400 for a while but recently parted with it, since I'm pretty useless with pedals.

I am sure they are wound differently. They are also a different size and have different number of poles.

I understand that, but I am looking for a 6-string equivalent to their 8-string pickups. I'm sure Seymour Duncan would make one as a custom order, but I was wondering if anyone knew if they changed anything between the 400/1000 pickups and the Jazzmaster. I need to talk to my boys at the Seymour Duncan forum.
